Looking for art

Lovely weather, the beautiful Sculpture Garden of Louisiana Museum in Humlebaek Denmark and three visitors.

But none of them seem te have eyes for “Little Janey Waney”
Alexander Calder (1898-1976), whose illustrious career spanned much of the 20th century, is the most acclaimed and influential sculptor of our time.

Born in a family of celebrated, though more classically trained artists, Calder utilized his innovative genius to profoundly change the course of modern art. He began by developing a new method of sculpting: by bending and twisting wire, he essentially "drew" three-dimensional figures in space.
He is renowned for the invention of the mobile, whose suspended, abstract elements move and balance in changing harmony. Calder also devoted himself to making outdoor sculpture on a grand scale from bolted sheet steel. Today, these stately titans grace public plazas in cities throughout the world.

Hi Rob,

what a great and colourful picture. Very nice composition with these people ignoring the artwork (maybe they're used to it). Only critique, the sky looks a bit unnatural. Did you change it in any way ?

Very nice view, for the uniform blue sky ins is perfect harmony with the simple colors of the mobile. In fact it seems to be exactly the kind of sky it was made for. The white disc looks a bit like a moon here with the high positionning. This also why the characters - consciously or not - remain outside out the composition, since they are not monochromatic.

The strong blue sky makes a perfect background for the vivid primary colours of the sculpture. I notice you put humorous as your category. I agree the positioning of the people is verging on the surreal, especially the girl playing "dead". Good observation

De felle kleuren van dit kunstwerk steken prachtig af tegen de blauwe lucht. Zonde dat geen van de anderen ernaar kijkt, maar wat betreft de zonaanbidster is dit begrijpelijk met dit heerlijke weer.

Hello Rob,

In this perfectly composed shot, you have juxtaposed the mobile, the photographer, an observer, and the inflappable sunbather. The vivid colors of sculpture, against the bakdrop of the blue sky adds additional drama.

Excellent capture, I love the people in this scenery. The head of a distracted woman, the busy man and the girl sleeping. Perfect POV, nice colors, very good light.

Wie geniet hier het meest van het kunstwerk, de jonge dame die het vermoedelijk niet ziet, de fotgraaf die zich aan het installeren is of is het de dame die net bove de muur loert, misschien is het wel naar de fotograaf, u bent een kunst liefhebber "puur sang"

I love this composition, it´s adorable, how you have played with the tree figures appearing on your imagek, the laying woman, the man behing the bushes, the head sculpture, and the vertical element which is sùpposed to be the leading role within your image!

Great colours and the perfect blue sky which sets out the sculpture so well !
Interesting also the three people : one head , one head and torso and one (almost) complete body . They are really well placed - one more triangle !

A very well composed picture with the artistic and colorful sculpture and the girl resting on the fresh grass, the head of a woman produces a nice balance with the photographer. Excellent vivid colors on a beautiful sunny day. Good sharpness and POV.

Deze kleurige en qua evenwicht precair oegende mobiel lijkt zich in een andere wereld te bevinden dan de mensen die van het zomerse parkleven genieten. Toch moet er een heilzame invloed van dit zeer fraaie kunstwerk op zijn directe omgeving. Een vrolijke en fraai uitgevoerde 'slice of life'

Hi Rob,
An intriguing shot. For a moment I thought the girl lying in repose was part of the fixed artwork; she is certainly colour co-ordinated with the sculpture and sky...This low angle POV really brings out the sculpture nicely. The lady whose head appears on the right nicely balances the scene. I like the overall effect here of art and leisure combining. Well captured.

I always have difficulties taking shots with people around but here I can see you handling it perfectly and in a very meaningful way. The movement of the mobile harmonized with that of the three figures. I also enjoyed the strong hard edge colours of the mobile against that of the sky. Great visual impact!!

All these people around that mobile are improbable... As if you inserted them after the shot. Almost a kind of pop-art. Excellent.

Interesting composition, with the different actions of the three people included...
The wonderful blue sky is of course a natural part of the frame!

The composition is simple, almost minimalist and it fits perfectly with the subject. The contrast between the very saturated colors of the artwork and of the foreground elements and the light blue sky is very interesting and pleasant.

Superb shot. Not only a fantastic sculpture but also a fantastic presentation of it. The strong red colour is perfect against the strong blue sky. I also love your inclusion of people. Most photographer would have tried to avoid it. The inclusion of them makes the picture really exiting and vivid.

Olá Rob, most funny capture for your interesting theme. I really like the sleeping girl coming from the corner and at the same time, the same girl (my personal interpretation) looking back. Yesterday I went to the excellent exhibition of Andy Warhol in Amsterdam and kept remembering of you and Lars but didn´t took any photo, which I now regret. Thanks for the creative WS of my return flight :)

Bonjour Rob.
C'est l'équilibre de cette composition qui saute aux yeux. Équilibre des formes et des couleurs. J'aime beaucoup les personnages qui habitent la composition.
