[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Some years ago most of the old navy base in Copenhagen, Holmen, was abandoned by the navy and taken over by some state art schools like architecture, theatre and music plus housing and offices. Other parts of the harbour was also redeveloped for new uses, and it was decided to launch a water-bus route along the harbour.
Here the "bus" is approaching the island Christianshavn. The water darkens as it gets into the shadow of Knippelsbro and there are still some white spots of foam from a previously passed boat.

Your picture is interesting, especially its composition. But I will prefer to see more space up the boat. The B&W is well seen. Anyway, a good picture

This is cool. The B&W attracted me to open the thumbnail and explore the shot further. I really like the position of the boat (or bus) in the frame and the way that the water goes from light to total black. Nothing to nit pick here, excellent work.

it has been a delightful impression to see Copenhagen through your eyes.
the boat and its diagonal waves, the subtle darkening of the water make this shot just perfect. one of my fav.
thanks for sharing.

ps: good to know through your notes the new uses of spaces. in this sense, 'abandoned' gains a new meaning...

Another one of your slightly drastic B&W´s - I like them! Having a boat in an upper corner is very unusual as boats by definition are supposed to be on the lowest level of the to humans accessible world.

But you composition is great with the different grades of dark in the water and the boat being almost secondary to the water surface itself.

somethign different here, I like how you ahve taken this shot here, well done with putting the boat furthest away, the water is very clear, well odne

Very nice minimalist composition Torben! BW a great choice too. Would like that the boat wasn´t so close from the borders..anyway i like it, good work :)

Another good example of your special view on things, Torben. Looks strange, but at the same time - it's very special. I like the variaty of gery tones. Wonderful.

Inspiring framing on an everyday subject. Imagination here is excellent - we need more of this!

Great stuff.

(A little too oversharp for my liking though.)

Going for the negative space, are we? I often try this and it never works. This one does. I suppose there should have been just a few mm more above the boat, but I'm sure they weren't there or you would have included them. Lovely b&w water impression anyway.

I been looking at your shot for a while and actually begining to like it ;-)
Very well done, but I agree with Per.

I will concider trying this some day - and may be even soon - Thanks for inspiration and hint Torben -

Hi Torben. I like the extreme composition here. You always seem to push the boundaries, but it works. The gradation from light to dark also enhances this. Without the gradation, I don't think this composition would work. Super!

Very interesting and unusual composition which I like a lot. The grey gradients are excelent.

I just feel it's a bit oversharpened. In the water works well but I'm not so sure in the boat. Maybe applying only the sharpness to the water would work fine.
