Photographer’s Note
Or: The Bugs are Back.. After several months without any bugs to photograph, anything will do, even though the really interesting species aren't back yet (did see a tattered butterfly the other day, though).
This photo is from the pussy willow I photographed back in late January, see this.
The fluffy white tufts have now grown to some 3 cm long and have developed yellow stamens. The tiny flies - less than 5 mm long - are busy helping Mother Nature by distributing the pollen from one tree to the next.
Sorry I couldn't get all the flies within DOF range, not even at F-16.
Treatment: Small crop, contrast +10, brightness +5, saturation +10, USM and resize.

Excellent work Bente. If it was me I would take apicture of the pussy willow without the flies though, they do not appeal to me. :)

WOW! Great macro shot Bente - the detail of the "bugs" is fantastic. Terrible fact of life, these flies, but you have done a really good job with this one. Well done.

Hi Bente,
so that's what you were doing by the branches this afternoon!
Well, you told my something about bugs and flies. Now I see what you were doing ;-)
It's a very nice capture. I'm impressed by your Tamron lense, it's really awsome.
Keep up the good work....

Great Macro, good detail, it would be intersting also to have a very very close shot of the bug or maybe just one, Well composed.

Very fine capture Bente - And the alternative title "The Bugs are Back" also a reminder of a lot of shots to be taken in the near future ;-)
I like the light/shadow you found in for this shot - and five flies in one shot - not bad.

Jolie composition.
La profondeur de champ est correcte sur le cadrage de la scène, c'est suffisant pour décrire le travail des moucherons.
Pretty composition. The depth of field is correct on the framing of the scene, it is sufficient to describe the work of the bugs.
Well done !

Very nice and very clear macro Bente. Yes, there are lot of activties going on right now. Even not getting all - 5 not 7 - flies in one smack you did very well. The stamens, the flies even the pollen is crispy and clear. Very good work here.
