Photographer’s Note
Repost note: After a closer look on the swan (thanks Bente) I realised my mistreatment of this photo - This only given resized and one light sharpening.
Data for the shot: f5.6 / 1/640 iso50 - Could someone please tell me how I can uptain this information from a picture on my computer (I had to load this back in my camera)
--------------------------------------------------
The title should of course be ”starry starry sea” but I wanted to use the same title, as that fine old song by Don McLean – about Vincent van Gogh.
Not much to say about this – My camera was running low on batteries when I spotted this lonely swan.
I got her/him from the car – but decided to get even closer – which made him decide to “sail” away.
The sun was quite high on the sky and the see was relative calm, The reflections was too much for my eye’s but I decided to wait for the swan to get into the reflection area – and hoping for something useful.
I got four shot with the last power on the batteries – and returned home curious the result –
Ok may be its too much, but I was surprised to get this image from a backlight shot, hope you like it too.
PP: Normal settings for colour saturation, resize, framing, sharpening.
Second note! There wasen't use filters - in fact I dosen't even own one :-) but may be I should invest in some.

The original version was already good, but I think this one is even better for its more subtle treatment. It's a well seen and beautifully executed shot of the swan surrounded by this "sea of stars". Wonderful tones of blue on the rippled water. Great work, Jeppe.

A picture from a dream, Ebbe!
Sometimes the unexpected things are the best...
The sparkling water, the blue of it, the almoust silhouette-like swan - very well seen and done.
Reposting was worth, thanks

Really a great improvement Jeppe, I guess you own Bente a cold one ;-)
The image is very kitsch but in this smooth version it is a strength instead of a weakness, I like it.
PS: avoid filters, they will swallow your soul!

Good shot with the stars on the water, I have one like this with less stars, the swan fits perfectly in it, well done.

Jeppe, you go through all the bother of naming a photo which was clearly taken in sunlight after a song about the night - and then you don't put it into the theme. Well, I have done it now.
Actually, the real link between the two is elsewhere, I feel: You wanted to photograph those sunlight reflections on the water exactly the same way Vincent Van Gogh wanted to paint the light of the stars in the famous painting of the Night Cafe that Don McClean referred to. And you succeded. So with the total artistic license granted to real artists you can of course call your daytime photo: Starry, Starry Night.

This a a very nice image. Strong, simple & powerful. The stars are an added bonus. I've tried to get an effect like this, using a star 6 filter, but was unsuccessful. You were lucky!

Nice Photo, nice note and nice title (I really liked that Album by McLean). I am no expert, but with digital I find the only useful filter is a polarizer, and just for some shots. It probably would have killed most of the nice stars in this picture though. Most of the filtering (other than polarization) can be done in PhotoShop.
