Photographer’s Note
Slotsholmen
Yesterday the weather was more like Spring, so I had a good opportunity to take some new pictures in the centre of Copenhagen.
On this picture you can see the little island of Slotsholmen in the heart of the city, the island I already mentioned some times before. I took this picture from the bridge over Slotsholmskanalen, called Christian IV's Bro.
The most important building on the island is Christiansborg Slot, here in the middle of the picture, the building of among other things, Folketinget (the Parliament), Statsministeriet (Prime Minister's Office) and Højesteretten (the Supreme Court).
Christiansborg Slot is located on the place where the founder of Copenhagen, bishop Absalon of Roskilde, built the castle 'Absalons borg ved havn' in 1167.
The present castle was designed by Thorvald Jørgensen and completed 1928.
The building on the left hand side is Børsen (the Stock Exchange). It is built between 1620 and 1640 by King Christian IV as a market place. It is one of the oldest buildings in the city. It was designed by the Dutch architects Lorents and Hans van Steenwinckel in Dutch Renaissance-style, the same architects and style as Frederiksborg Slot in Hillerød.
The building is best known for its tower, Dragespiret (the Dragon Steeple), representing four dragon tails intertwining. Nowadays the building is the office of the Danish Chamber of Commerce.
The church on the right hand side is Holmens Kirke, which isn't located on Slotsholmen. The building was orignally an anchor smithy (built in 1563), but King Christian IV transformed it into the Church (1619) for the Danish Navy, what it still is.
It is also the church where Queen Margrethe II (when still Crown Princess) was maried to the French Count Henri de Montpezat (Prince Henrik) in 1967.
The cupola between Holmens Kirke and Christiansborg is part of Christiansborg Slotskirke.
This is also my 250th picture on TE.
I hope you like this photo!

Good perspective, exposure and composition. The weather seems much better than in London, and the picture brings this out well. I love the blue sky and reflection in the water. Good work and framing. Well done.

Bonjour Lars,
Daniel.

Hi Lars, I like your PoV to have the three different towers well lined up along the perspective view of the canal bank. Good use of light to show the cheerful sunny days in the city. Good capture of the reflections and the contrast. A well taken picture.

Hey Lars. Well at least one of us gets to enjoy the warmer temps. The good light and sky helped you to some great clarity. I bet this POV would be nice at night. Congrats on #250! I'm slowing inching my way to #200. tfs Las.

Bravo pour ta 250ème, Lars !
Elle témoigne d'un grande maîtrise de la composition. J'aime cette perspective donnée par l'eau et qui nous conduit à ces monuments d'une beauté architecturale rare. La lumière et les couleurs sont au top.

Hej Lars,
Congratulations for your 250th post.
Good POV from the bridge, where we can some interesting buldings and their towers. I like specially the Stock exchange with its marvellous spire of the four dragons and the repetition of the roof volumes along the façade. Excellent note and quality of the image, as usual.

You like that place, don't you ?
The channel drives us to the castle : the perspective works well. The light is OK too. Classical but good compo.

Beste Lars,
Goed gedaan Lars,
Groeten,
John.

Hej Lars,
Nice composition and perspective overlooking the canal and the beautiful buildings in this part of Copenhagen. I passed by many times the building to the left and every time I payed notice to its impressive spire, but I didn't knew that it was the seat of the Stock Exchange. I like how the spires crown the skyline of this part of the city. Well done and thanks for the informative note!

Hi Lars, this is a nice architectural shot with the river leading the eye nicely to the subject. The river banks define the shape of the image well. I like the lighting especially on the green roofs.

Hej Lars!
You managed a great exposure, with very good light, contrast and natural colors. The idea of perspective is also very good.
But I specially enjoy the 'natural feeling' that I get from your pic Lars, it is almost as if I was standing there.
Saludos, hilsner,

I hasd missed that one, which I had not seen. The three towers are really nice, especially the one on the left. A good framing and always the combination of water and nice colors of the North, when the weather is good. Very good sharpness.
