Photographer’s Note
At Ørestad Station
Something completely different today: Last Tuesday I brought a friend of mine to Copenhagen Airport Kastrup. We took the Metro to Ørestad Station, where we changed to the normal train to the Airport. When we were waiting for our train, I saw the message on the information screen that there would come a passing train first. So I put my camera on a suitcase and waited for the train, that I captured with a shutter speed of 3 seconds.
Actually I was surprised there came a passing train, normally all the trains stop at Ørestad, maybe this was only an empty one.
The train services that pass Ørestad are the trains between Helsingør and Malmö Central (in Sweden), between Copenhagen Central Station and other Swedish cities like Göteborg, Kalmar and Stockholm and between Kastrup Airport and cities in Jutland, like Århus and Ålborg.
Ørestad is a part of Copenhagen on the island of Amager. It is in full development at the moment since the start of the construction of the Øresundsbridge between Denmark and Sweden, to give the area a new impulse.
Next to the station is the office of the company Ferring situated, that can be seen on one of my other pictures.
I hope you like this little experiment with this shutter speed and a passing train. :-)

Hallo Lars,

Hej Lars...
Interessant eksperiment du her har lavet...
Tak for synet... Ina...

Wow Lars, I feel the speed here. Good capture of the speed with the abstract picture. Nice contrast of the static and the dynamic. Well done.

Bonjour Lars,
Excellent week-end.

Hi Lars,
Splendid motion picture and moment capture by you that remind me also a different picture that I posted at my first posts with a train speeding and the cable. I detail here, I could say that something like a bird is in voyage at the near left upper train but is a interesting and paticular detail that is also a good adition to this so well seen, clear and decisive moment approach with excelent time and creative result. The false bird possible is a cable or upper technical support of this speed train that if you see with attention could be a real or virtual bird not flying easily and without paying between two stations. It's really fiction and is also only my imagination working and I like very much this incredible moment so well taken by you.
Motion and creative work very well done. Have a nice weekend and all the best to you and family.

Hi Lars. You know last summer I started playing around with capturing moving trains like this but I forgot to go try some more until I saw yours. Its simplicity and clean lines at its best. Well seen Lars.

Beste Lars,
John.

Hi Lars
I see some experimentation here. You have captured the action of the train well and the shot is very dynamic. I like the fact that you have filled the whole frame with the action. Very well done.

Graphic, modern, abstract...
I like that even if I would have liked to see a larger pov.

Hej Lars,
I love this experiences, as I love low shutter shots. They can give pretty nice dynamic results, as this one. And I also love the abstract look of the image, almost as a painting. I can almost feel the wind in my face...Very well done and excellent note as usual!

Mooi werk!
Goed weekend.

Hello Lars. Sometimes life passes you by so quickly it's just a blur. Yet it's interesting that the reflection still remains visible. The platform lights are eaily seen and the station name is almost readable.

very nice sense of motion here, but i would have liked something that could have been kept in focus, to provide a contrast. i don't think the platform is strong enough on it's own.
as an experiment though, this is a great shot! 3 seconds is a long time for such a fast moving object.

Hi Lars - strange but nice little experiment, I like the mix of sharp platform and blurry train.

I agree with this king of work association from a good technic and a very artistic sense.
Well lined and coloured.

You certainly captured the mouvement of the train, Lars :-)
It is different from the usual ones, in fact, but it was good to look at it. Good result!

Hi Lars,
Looking at pictures like this makes us wonder what is going on in your mind besides that urge to experiment. It allows us to see not only the scene but the person behind the camera too. I enjoyed this as I more or less have to look beyond this physical visual image. Well done!! Have a nice day

Hej Lars
I would just like to make a small suggestion that i would have liked to see this train occuplying a bit less of the photo frame .. but than that is just my preference ... I still do like this photo .. the platform at bottom and the blue sky are a very good touch

Hi Lars, this is a superb creation! I especially like that we see the reflections of the lights of the station perfectly stable on the fast-moving train (the four small naroow light strips); also wise to give reasonable space to the floor, so we know we are in a station; simply spectacular work! Heel leuk gedaan.

Not very figurative and slightly minimalist, but a very nice impression of speed which was clearly you intention here.
All the best,
