Photographer’s Note
A yard at the back of an old school, appears to have been taken over by graffiti enthusiastes. Some of the work is good. But does any one ever clean up.?

Graffiti is my pet hate. It is like an insult to all those who have to see it around walls and trains. It costs a fortune to clean up, no prizes for where the money comes from for clean up TAXES. All those caught should be fined, made to clean up for a month, that might slow them down a little.
Your photo captures a lot of why it should be banned.

Hi Michael,
Very good of you to get this, with the strewn cans especially. I totally agree with Murray and yourself...its a pretty pathetic way to communicate to society I feel. There are many ways for people who have the creative ability to be recognised, so there is really no need for this. What I especially hate is "tagging"....they might as well sign it "idiot".
Saying this, many years ago, there was a huge regeneration project in my home town. The local council held a competition for people to come and make their statement I suppose. You see, the area was cordoned off and they had wooden panels up for them to do this. They had some excellent "art" which served as a really interesting view along a popular long road near the university. Unfortunately, I was only a nipper at the time, but I remember thinking how good it was. Anyhow, I feel there is a place for this "art" and it has no place if it is offensive. Then, one can argue that pictures of half-naked women splattered across billboards in the name of advertising could be offensive?!?
Just a few humble thoughts!
