Photographer’s Note
Operaen
Today I start a serie of pictures of the new Opera-building in Copenhagen. I cycled earlier today to this building and I took a lot of pictures. Here's the first one. The weather was very nice today, but the light was quite harsh.
Operaen has been built between June 2001 and October 2004 and opened in January 2005. The building is located on the island of Holmen, north of Christianshavn and opposite to the Royal Palace Amalienborg and Marmorkirken (Marble Church). The architect behind this project is Henning Larsen.
Operaen is a donation to the Danish state by A.P. Møller and Chastine McKinney-Møller Foundation. Møller was the co-founder of the company Maersk.
Operaen opened with the opera Aida by Verdi with presence of the Danish queen Margarethe II, the Danish prime-minister Anders Fogh-Rasmussen and Mærsk McKinney-Møller, son of A.P.Møller.
More information will come with my other pictures. :-)
I hope you like this picture!

Hi Lars
There seems to be so much of tension in this photo due to the geometry of the shapes ... and I love this photo for particularly that reason
well seen and captured .... tfs

Woowww !
A incredible building, probably in an incredible area (is it close to the sea ?).
The frame allows to figure the building quite well.
The open shed is amazing.

Hi, Lars. You always shows us interesting places and beautiful buildings. This is another example. Though the colour of the grass looks like faded, it is probably that autumm has arrived, because other colours are all right. As Stepan says you only show a part of the building (probably the most interesting) and let us picture the rest. I think that this was a good choice. I am interested on the background. Is this a beach ? Are still people bathing ?

Bonsoir Lars,

Hi Lars,
Very nice composition in order to present this modern building. The point of view, you chose, gives excellent perspective to the picture. The sun as you said, was strong but the picture is well balanced. Very nice work and I'm waiting for the next post.

Hoi Lars,
Van modern architecture gesproken met deze luifel, perfect perspectief door de palen en de afsluiting van langs het gras, het contrast van de witte luifel tegen de blauwe hemel maakt alles leuk om te kijken.
Goed weekend Lars.

Hi Lars,
A well composed shot of this opera building. I like the three completely different components to the building's architecture. Your POV is superb, with generous foreground grass and the roadway for the eye to track. I see you were battling the light, but the result is quite effective, Lars.

Hi Lars,
What I find most interesting in this shot is the way you divide the space, colours and tones in this composition. It is very dynamic and full of energy. You only have to squint your eyes and forget about the small details to notice this. The tension at the tip of the roof to the left makes it very exciting. Excellent shot!! All the best.

Lars, I see you have been busy while I have been lazy. This series from the new opera is very nice, showing angles that I hadn't seen before.and you sure cught a beautiful day in Copenhagen for it.

Hi Lars,
Very well chosen angle to capture this interesting building. I like the perspective, leading our eye to the marvellous roof plan on top of the Opera. As an architect, this view attracts very much my eye. The colours are very nice and the blue sky is enhancing the subject. Very well done and thanks a lot for capturing my attention! Although I'm more looking for fascinating landscapes in remote areas, architecture is allways a pleasure for me, as well.
Have a nice weekend,
Ricardo

Very nice geometrical composition, with the crossing of the two serie of line, the road and the roof of the opera building. Light and shade are excellent in that one.
All the best,
Emmanuel
