Photographer’s Note

Again a photo of Ebeltoft, a small city to the east of Århus with only about 4,000 inhabitants.

Altough is very small, Ebeltoft got city rights in 1301 of the king; he probably did that because the inhabitants of this city helped him to fight against the Norwegians.

But the city is probably much older and the bay was used as a natural harbour in the Viking times.

In the 16th and 17th the city became very rich, mostly because of the its harbour and trade with Norway.

In the 20th century, the didn't get a real industrial development, but this is maybe the reason why the historical centre is preseverd so very well. Nowaday, the city has a big tourist industry.

For other photos of the Ebeltoft series look here and here.

About the photo: auto levels, a bit more contrasts, a little bit less light (especially on the white house and the shadow) and cropped heavily, because the white house to the left was very dominating and in the last part of the street there were some modern building which didn't match very well. Reseized and sharpened in InfranView.
