Photographer’s Note
After some sunny photos of Denmark, now a rainy photo, which I made yesterday. In the afternoon, it suddenly became dark, it started to rain heavily and there was a lot of thunder.
I took this photo when I was hiding in a door opening of a shop. The street (to the left and the right) is Strøget, the main shoppingstreet in Århus. I took a lot of photos there of people who were running or were walking with umbrellas. This was one of the best.
It is not always sunny in the summertime in Denmark, but I am used to that. In the Netherlands, it rains even more.
The photo is not cropped. I used the auto level function, and increased the contrasts and the sharpness a bit. I made it smaller in InfranView.

What a good capture. The illustrate weather especially rainfall is extremely difficult and you have worked wonders here. The slight blurr on the man foot adds to the impression.

the golden glow called my attention from the thumbnail and when i opened it, i was not disappointed at all :)) what a nice shot, the basic combination of gray & gold is excellent. and then there are the street lights, the car lights, the bikes, the bin, the movements of people, the details of the shop, oh, so beautiful, that rain so sharp, so visible! so much to see!
my heart gets warmer when it rains :))

Prettige dag verder!
John.

Rain is certainly one of the most difficult conditions to photography. You succeed here in quality and the light in this very good composition;
I like it

Wow, quite a contrast to your previous sunny presentation, Stef. A very good rendition of the downpour, in which the raindrops meeting the pavement registered particularly well. The few people still on the street seem in a hurry to avoid the rain, and I like the warm light glowing from inside the shop at the corner.

Bonjour Stef,

Goed gedaan!

Hi Stef, You are brave to get this shot. I hope you did not get your camera wet to take this picture. Good to see the rain effect of the blurring with the different distance. A well taken picture with clarity and sharpness.

Hi Stef,
Excellent shot of the rainy day. It's very alive with all these people running in the street. The lighting is perfect. I suppose you used slow shutter speed, so you must have very steady hand. Very well done!

Hi Stef. We sure don't see many rain shots on TrekEarth. I've only tried shooting in the rain once. You seem to have no rain drops on the lens, which is always a plus! The colors are nice enough which is impressive considering the lack of light. Well done Stef.

Hej Stef
Sad to admit - but this one of the elements in a "typically danish summer" - how ever have I read about people from "dry places" which buy holidays in our contries with "rain garanty" ;-)
Thanks for sharing - this wet but fine moment.

Nice photo! I like bad weather photos, although I usually prefer rainless weather. Is this the street with a McDonalds restaurant? Many years ago we were there with the family, having the same kind of weather and we took refuge in the McDonalds, the best part of the whole vacation according to my kids. Regards, Huub

Hi Stef, I like this daily life and rainy day shot, I haven't been in a situation so far with my camera to take a photo of heavy rain. Very Good result in this difficult condition, very sharp details, well done.

Hi Stef! I always like seeing street scenes from the daily life. I think you succeeded into porting that kind of feeling into this picture. I would prefer it though, if I could see a 20-30% upwards. In that case street and buildings would be seen more than the sidewalk. Thanks for sharing it.

Hi Stef, That was quite a shower. The rain drops exploding on the dark ground are one nice way to make the rain visible on the picture. Using a low shutter speed as suggested by Ioannis with a dark background is another way. I also like the high luminosity of the street and the way every moving person seems to hurry.

Hello Stef,
I really like this "real live" shot.
The different lights in the rain are beautiful.
A simple scenery but very well captured.
Well done !

Dag Stef,
I was expecting a day like this when I visited Aarhus, Denmark in may 2001. But I was luckier.
Your photo shows very when the "nice" big rainfall. I like the lights and people on the picture.
Tot ziens.
