Photographer's Note

This is the harbour of Snekkersten, a few kilometres south of central Helsingør (also known as Elsinore).

Far away you can see the Swedish coast around Helsingborg, on the other side of the Øresund, or The Sound as it is also known in English, or Swedish Öresund.

Snekkersten was a clandestine embarkation point for Danish Jews secretly transported to neutral Sweden in fishing boats during WWII Occupation of Denmark by Germany.
