Photographer’s Note
My first picture of Fyn, the second biggest island of Denmark and the island were the famous writer Hans Christian Andersen was born.
("Fyn er fin" (Fyn is fine), I heard a old man saying that once on television, and I think it's true. It's such a lovely island.)
This city is Faaborg, a small city by the south coast of Fyn with 17.000 inhabitants. (Actually, Hans Christian Andersen fell in love with a girl from this city.)
This is one of the street from the harbour to the center, a street with coloufull houses.
The day I was there, was a very dark an grey day, so that's why I post a picture with not too much sky (I cropped the rest of the sky away).
I also had to increase the contrasts a bit (and I decreased the green and the blue a bit). I also sharpneded the picture a bit (cause I you change the seize of the format to post it on TE, they usually become a bit unclear, but it's maybe a bit too sharp now).

Hi Stef.
A nice picture (a typical Danish postcard?)
Nice colurs and DOF.
I think it's a tad to sharp. Normally things goes the other way on TE ;-)
It's to "digital" for my taste if you know what I mean? Some of the horizontal lines on the left side are jagged/pixelate'd. (At least on my screen).
Try a warmth filter on this one (just a surgesstion).
Cheers Jorn

Perhaps a tad oversharpened.Curiously I like the high contrast and the strong colour saturation that comes from it. Not sure about the compo though: it seems to me that your crop gave too much width to the photograph, in regard to the height. YOu're losing details in the shadows because of the high contrast.

A lovely photo from the corner of the old city street, Stef. The half-timbered house at the right makes a nice foreground element that opens up our view towards the colorful houses along the cobblestone pavement. The panoramic crop was a good choice to disguise the bright sky. Sharpness sure is at an upper level here (at the left house, look at the line where the yellow part of wall below the windows meets the black part ..), but it still works fine. Nice shot!

Bonsoir Stef,
Une belle composition avec de jolies couleurs bien saturées. Le cadrage façon panoramique est très bien vu. Je trouve cette petite ruelle pavée vraiment très charmante. Un bon cliché, bien vu!

Great angle on this one. The colors are very nice, and the little bike makes it all the more perfect.

lovely photo Stef! Indeed very fine! The fact that HC Andersen was born there, really adds to the photo for me!! ;-)
Great cropping, great colours! lovely place. Looks a bit (this street anyway) like the 'golden street' in Prague...

Sometimes when you're forced to crop the sky, the result is much better than the original. And I think that is really the case for this picture. The horizontal orientation works very nice and the colours are beautiful. As you say for yourself: the sharpness is a bit over the top in my opinion. But the composition is excellent!

Well done Stef for this eye-catching picture. You've brought this village to life with great colors from the dull grey day. Great composition too.
Groetjes.

The composition is very good. The rectangular framing is very nice here, and the colors are great. And the shiny street is a nice detail. Great photo.

The place is extremely nice, but so is the composition, and a perfect light for this kind of picture, no hard shades to deal with.
I like it very much !
