Photographer's Note

In the far north of Germany the Flensburg Fjord, occasionally known as the Flensburg Firth, forms part of the border between Germany to the south and Denmark to the north stretching 50 kilometers into the Baltic Sea. Following its path starting from Flensburg, steep coast lines, wooded areas and fields trim the water’s edge until the Fjord opens out into an almost infinite horizon to the Baltic Sea. This region is particularly interesting from a cultural-historical point of view. The German-Danish border has been shifted again and again, and it did not reach its final position until 1920 when South Jutland was reunified with Denmark. The Danish gendarmerie built a system of pathways close to the new border and patrolled them. The boundary is marked with stones that on one side have DR,P engraved on them, which stands for Deutsches Reich, Prussia.
In 1988, the South Jutland County realized the potential of the gendarme pathways. Not as paths defining the Danish-German border, but as a fantastic chance to explore the countryside. The county therefore began re-establishing selected parts of the gendarme pathways. Today, you can follow in the gendarmes' footsteps from Padborg to Høruphav on South Als - a route that covers 74 kilometers.

Hi Harriet,
Winter seem to have passed away in your area too, this is indeed a very pleasant "springtime" scene. The rainbow, which should end at a pot of gold ends at an old bench. Maybe no gold, but a nice part of the composition. Good colours and and interesting note.

Hello Harriet,
The rainbow is nice, but it literally comes in the background of the old bench, the large boulders and the tufts of yellow grass that provide a very nice foreground. The fence creates a fine diagonal and gives depth to the composition. The dark clouds look great - they nearly always do when lit from the side.

There are two romantic elements on your photo, dear Harriet (in French arc-en ciel and le banc). I see also pampas behind "le banc" which are waiting the spring for a new start of the life. I think your walk was for something. Danke shon.

Very appealing, peaceful landscape and a good spot to rest before continuing the journey on the path and tks to your excellent note making us appreciate this better. A the nicely lit fg in warm tones and the beautiful dark threatening sky creates a brilliant overall contrast and mood. the little rainbow is a bonus for this picture? :)
It may seem unbelievable that this photo was taken in the middle of winter: no snow around... it looks more like a spring scene! Anyway, Nature has got crazy these days...
Interesting photo that is accompanied with an interesting Note :)
Both the bench and the boulders look old and fairly picturesque. But what suddenly attracted my attention and made me curious is that small object in the distance on the right - behind the fence... I wonder what it is!

Immer wieder gelingt es Dir, interessante Beiträge zu veröffentlichen - wie hier.
Das Foto besticht wieder einmal durch seinen Aufbau mit der Bank und den Findlingen im Vordergrund. Sie erzeugen eine tolle Tiefe. Darüberhinaus ist das Fehlen "richtiger" Farben faszinierend. Na, und der kleine Regenbogen ist das Tüpfelchen auf dem "i". Das Ganze gefällt mir sehr!
