Photographer’s Note

Recently Bill (trekks) made the following remark on one of my last postings: “Denmark. Boats.” Here are the boats again and some facts about the main Danish feature.
Denmark is in geographical terms a peninsular with approximately 500 islands in a very shallow sea. This explains the high coastline to area ratio of 165 m / km2 and a coastline per inhabitant of 1.4 m. No site in Denmark is more than 52 km from the coast. So the whole country can be considered as a coastal zone. Denmark’s coastline measures about 7500 km. Existing or planned build-up areas, harbours and technical installations and summer cottages occupy one third of the total coast. 6% of the coastline consists of harbours or anchorages and more than 500 small or large yachting harbors can be found along the coastline. This is once more Egernsund, a small community of 1600 inhabitants located in South Jutland between the waters of Flensburg Fjord and Nyboel Nor on a cold winter morning.
