Photographer’s Note

This is an angel on the pulpit of the Saint Knud (Canute) Church in Aabenraa, a small city in south Denmark.

The curch is from 1250, but before 1250, there was even an older church on this place, but that one burnt down in 1247, togheter with the rest of the city.
Parts of the Saint Knuds Church were rebuild in 1641 and during a renovation in the years 1947-1956 lots of thing were changed.

The pulpit, were this angel is from, is from 1565 and has holy insriptions in German.

About this picture: I took it from quite a big distance (about 1 meter, I think), and than I cropped everything around it.

First, I tried to capture it very close, but than the reflection of flashlight became very shiny and disturbing. There is still some reflection of the flashlight on this version, but it's not too bad I think.

(If anyone know how to get red of the reflection of the flashlight, please, let me know, or show me, If you would like).

Very nice detail of this little piece of artwork. The flashlight gives the angle, especially on its hair something extra, I think, so there's nothing wrong with it. Well done!

What a nice sharp and detailed detail you captured here. I am curious as to the camera you used. Was it the A80? This one goes straight into my Danish churches theme.

Hi Stef, great textured pic and good note. Fine captured of a nice detail. Well seen and thanks for sharing. About the highlights, I did two workshops, one how to get rid off them and the second one to show you the highlighted zones in your picture.

But at all, we all know 'bout the problems taking pics in such difficult lighted situations in churches, you've managed that very well in my eyes....

You did a fine job here Stef - I can't remember seeing this kind of details in churches around here - but you right - theres a lot of details hidden from our view - you got a fine mix of reflections and golden glow by taken it from a distance - thanks for sharing and for the note to explain.
