Photographer’s Note
This is the northernmost point of Denmark, Grenen, where the two seas meet and clash, Skagerrak and Kattegat. Skagen is just next to the lighthouse, 3 kms far away.
It's a luminous and colourful land. From the grey and misty southern Jylland, I arrived to this explosion of light. In the mid 19th century well known painters, as Michael and Anna Ancher and Oscar Björck followed the contemporany fashion of painting in 'plein air' out of the doors. Skagen was the perfect place. Their work established a vivid and figurative style of painting known as the 'Skagen School'.
