Photographer’s Note

Hello folks.
Photo from the archive, but it’s not so old. It’s from last year when me and my wife visited Denmark. We had been to Skagen (situated at the very nothern part of Jylland, Denmark) and was heading a bit south (where else?) when we read an information about a moving desert. A desert in Denmark? Well it’s not very large, but it’s the largest moving dune in nothern Europe, It is approx 1 squarekilometer. The wind moves the location up to 18 meters/year in a north-easterly direction. The top of the dune is 40 meters above sea level.
I had imagined that I would sink down in the sand when walking up the dune, but it was only the upper, say, 10 centimeters that was concisting of dry sand. Under it the sand was steady.
Some facts above are from Wikipedia and if you want there was more to read and learn.
