Photographer’s Note
Århus Cathedral (Danish: Århus Domkirke) is the main religious edifice of Århus, Denmark, in the Jutland peninsula in the western part of the country.
The construction of Århus Cathedral began around year 1200 and was founded by Bishop Peder Vognsen. The church was finished in 1300 in typical Romanesque style.
However, in 1330 the cathedral burned down, and was abandoned until the late 14th century. By then the Gothic style of architecture had reached Denmark, and the cathedral was rebuilt until it was restored to its present state (left) in year 1500.
The cathedral is dedicated to the patron saint of sailors, St. Clemens.
It is the holder of several records in Denmark: at 96 meters in length, it is the longest church; it has the most frescos; the largest organ; and its triptych is Denmark's largest artistic medieval treasure. The 96 vertical meters makes it the tallest in Denmark and second tallest in Northern Europe. The cathedral seats about 1,200.
The cathedral has a notable altar (right) by the sculptor and painter Bernt Notke and tombstones by the Flemish sculptor Thomas Quellinus.

Hello Jo,
A good capture of the cathedral and its soaring spire under a magnificent sky. The couple in the foreground add a nice touch of vitality whilst the block paving leads the eye directly to the door of the cathedral. Good colours and clarity.

Hello Jonathan,
You choce for a vertical format, this give a wonderful result.
Also the threads together with the lights bring us very depth to the background, very well perspective and pleasant colours. Splendid view.
Have a nice sunday,

Hi Jonathan The important you this reception from low me liked, and for the symmetry and for the placement in the plan around the Temple of buildings and the beautiful sky and the mens. The Temple impresses also for the architecture and the age, and the note, praises you and greets.

It is the first time I see this cathedral, Jo, and I must say I'm impressed, the two people adding so much scale here. Nice use of vertical frame.

Nice shot, with the tower of the church seeming to point the way to the heavens. Great sky in the background to add some texture there, and you used the buildings on each side to add a natural frame to the tower, really emphasizing the centre. Well done!

Jonathan,
Nice shot of this cathedral with it's spire towering into a great sky. The contrast formed by the tower in shade and the bright sky is striking. The lighting and colors are fine with excellent sharpness and detail.

Hello Jo,
Another wonderful shot of Åarhus (the canal was most memorable). That is a very impressive height, of around thirty stories. Would the Stephansdom be the highest? The symmetric perspective shot works very nicely, as well as the vertical format of the image. Finally, the note is highly informative, all in all a very good TE-package.
Warm regards,
Bulent

Hej Jonathan
I'm quite fond of the wires that sort of ties up the image It gives a different POV and IMO more intressting.

Hej Jonathan,
I know this place quite well. A very nice view over the square towards the cathedral. You had a great sky as background and you made very well use of the streetlamps to create a nice effect. The two men are a good inclusion in the foreground. Well done, thanks for sharing!

Hello Jonathan,

Hi Jonathan.
Great point of view and a perfect exposure gives an excellent photo with gorgeous colours and light. A pity those two men 'destroying' the image a bit. Well done with the perspective correction. Superb sharpness and clearance.
