Photographer’s Note

Here's a pretty clear view of the island Nolsoy, facing the capital Tórshavn. The picture was taken during a walk around Tórshavn. The island is reachable from Tórshavn harbour, the boat ride taking roughly 20 minutes.

The lowest section of the island, the thinnest point on the picture, is actually an isthmus and the village of Nolsoy is built right there. The isthmus is so narrow that during really bad storms, waves that come crashing on the shore can splash their way clear across the village to the other side of the isthmus.
