Photographer’s Note

A quaint Faroese house, nestled against the slopes of Kirkjubøur. The typical homes of the Faroe Islands pretty much all have this type of turf roofs, stone foundations, rounded wooden doors, etc. The windows, with small square glass pieces, are also typical of old homes in most european areas.

The stone walls you can see, both the one in the foreground and those in the fields in the back, were built a long time ago, sometimes as much as centuries ago, by the ancestors of the people currently living there.
