Gooood Morning Torshavn (pano)
Arriving in the night with some 12 hrs delay at the ferry due to bad weather - checking in at the hotel - opening the curtains of the hotel room in the morning: And there it is the little capital of Torshavn at the Fartoe islands. App. 20.000 inhabitants on some tiny islands in the middle of the North Atlantic.
Enjoy here a full pano of the view>>

From Wiki:
Tórshavn is the capital of the Faroe Islands. It is located in the southern part on the east coast of Streymoy.
The city was founded in the 10th century and may well be the oldest capital in Northern Europe.
The Vikings established their parliament on the Tingenes peninsula in Tórshavn 825 AD. All through the Middle Ages the narrow peninsula jutting out into the sea made up the main part of Tórshavn. Sources do not mention a built-up area in Tórshavn until after the Protestant reformation in 1539. Early on Tórshavn became the center of the monopoly trade, therefore being the only legal place for the islanders to sell and buy goods. In 1856 the trade monopoly was abolished and the islands were left open to free trade. The town has grown rapidly ever since the turn of the 20th century into the undisputed administrative, economic and cultural center of the Faroes.

Hello Jack,
it seems a photo made of sticked horizontal layers, each with its beauty.
The light hitting the sea and lightning softly the city is key here but the characteristic look of the northern cities is also a plus of this photo.
Small towns with harbours are always something I like to watch and compare to what we have here in Portugal.
Cheers.

Great light control in this one, esp. the detail in foreground. I like the colors, too-nothing exaggerated. Cool work. Regards,

Hello, Jack!
Fantastic landscape full of light and contrast. I like that the image is divided into "layers" of sky, mountains, water and ground. It really looks perfect, everythink is put in order.
regards,
Greg

Hello Jack,
What a spectacular view! I feel as if I have vicariously experienced what you went through before waking up to this view on the last day of September. Three weeks into October, this area must be getting shorter and shorter days. But, the light is inspiring, worthy of viewing the image to the accompaniment of Mendelsohn's Hebrides Overture.
Warm regards,
Bulent

Hi Jack - these islands are notorious for bad weather, I'm glad you got a little bit of sun in this case, I would love to go, but I'm afraid it will rain all day everyday (it probably will), wonderful panorama.
