Photographer’s Note

Walking home from work across Langebro (Long bridge) with a camera in the pocket, I had to take this picture.
I'm not so much of a sunset/panorama type guy myself, but sometimes you just can't avoid it ;-)
To the left is the Islands Brygge area on the large island Amager, just off the coast from mainland Sjælland of which the Sydhavn area with the power-plant H.C Ørstedsværket is seen in the background.
The thing in the lower left corner is for bathing (sorry I don't know the proper English word). Improvements in purification of wastewater during the last 20 years and gradual closing of old industries, has improved the quality of the water in the inner harbour so much, that it's good for bathing. Last year this floating bath was opened, and it has been a huge success on hot summer days.
In the icy cold wind of this October day, bathing was only a distant memory though.

I'ts a vey strong shot, with a lot of atmosphere and many interesting spots (as the swimming pool you mentionned). The beacon with it's red and white stripes is really catching the eye, as well as the chimneys and the high buildings echoing. The rest is very good, sharp, and with beautiful natural elements. Just a bit underexposed. Good you stopped to shoot this one!

I like this shot, I love the dark atmosphere. It looks like a scene from a movie. Very well done.

Torben, I think I must have looked at this three or four times without reviewing it. It has that romantic painter from the 19th century(Guldaldermalerne)touch with 4/5 sky and 1/5 earth and the sky dominating the landscape not only in size but also in colours. "clodreno" says scene from a movie, I suppose meaning big screen or widescreen. And I agree, this could stand being blown up and hung on a wall.

This pic really shows the industrial nature of the landscape ! All in gray shades, except for some hope with clear sky... The sea looks metallic...
Really nice shot, but very melancolic !
