Photographer’s Note
Here is a traditional Danish church on a religious holiday - notice anything missing? With the exception of Christmas and Easter, Danes aren't terribly interested in religious holidays.
This is Great Prayer Day. It is a holiday created by the renowned king Christian the 4th in 1686. The way most Danes tell the story is that the king got tired of all the minor church holidays, so he collected them all in one day - Great Prayer Day, to simplify things. I guess one could say it worked - no one is celebrating the other holidays anymore, but beyond having a national holiday, one would wonder if anyone is celebrating Great Prayer Day. Notice the empty parking lot?

Hello Kate.
Trully a curious colorful building.
The shot is well done, with a well-decentered danish flag.
Kind regards.
Bobo.

dear Kate,
an interesting design and vividly colored building, inded,
this church was built at rather old time or relatively recent?
from the window of the airplane, it maybe very eye-catching, also from the heaven...
step-shape side walls are your traditional design? those look having something meanings.
thank you,
Akihisa

Hi Kate.
Wonderful composed picture. Warm, higly saturated colors and the soft curves/lines on the ground. Excellent contrast to the greenish. I really like this one.
Peaceful!
Have a nice weekend.

Hello Kate,
very well composed photo! But the emptiness around...... is amazing! yes, the parking lot is empty...
The bright orange and red colours make the photo look rather unusual (at least, to me, because I have never seen a church of such colours!). The day seemed to be windy - judging by the Danish flag flapping in the wind :)
very colourful and interesting photo!
Wishing you a nice Sunday,
best regards,
Elena

Hello Kate
yes, it looks quite empty but there are no elements(like cars)to disturb this image ;)
'Happy' colors for this 'original' church which stands out perfectly against the pale sky.
Cheers

Hi KAte
An amazing church looking at the place and the colors, such warm colors on a church are fairly unusual, is it made of Legos ??? ;-)
Have a nice day JY

in Brazil many religious holydays were extinct when the republic time arrived, then during the 1930's a new president recriated many of them, some time after, during the militar dictatorship (1964 to 1984)many of them were extinct again. anyway nowdays many people thinks we have so many holidays and this bring us many economical damages.
beautiful image, I liked the shapes and the colors of the church, they made a nice contrast with the greyish sky
hugs
jorge
