This is my first picture in 2006, so first of all I want to wish you all a very happy new year or in Danish: Rigtig godt nytår!
The last one and a half week I was in a little town called Vellerup, about 60km from Copenhagen. A very nice area on the peninsula Hornsherred between the Isefjord and Roskildefjord in the North of the island of Sjælland.
In the middle of the Isefjord, the little island Orø is located, that is connected with the main land (Hammer Bakker) by a little ferry. On one of our walks my father and I took this ferry and visited the island.
Here you can see the church of the 'biggest' town on the island, Bybjerg.
The island Orø is as said located in the Isefjord. It is a part of Holbæk Kommune in Vestsjællands Amt. The island is 14km2 and has 1,000 inhabitants in four towns: Bybjerg, Gamløse, Næsby and Brønde, but there are also about 1,200 holiday cottages on the island. Apart from the ferry to Hammer Bakker, is there also a connection to the city of Holbæk.
The church you can see here is located in Bybjerg. I read they started building the church in 12th century, but the present tower is newer.
The church is built in the same (typically Danish) style as Herfølge Kirke
A picture from the other side of the church is posted by my father and can be seen here.
As you can see, a lot of snow, I think there was about 30cm snow, mostly fallen last Thursday. This picture was taken on the last day of the year, when we also got little snow.
I hope you will like this snow landscape and the church!

Thanks very much for your great work and also of your father that in the moment have a few of posts that I also like and his friendly view and creative vision. I like both and also both have wonderful compositions of your country, architecture and places, like a old brother and a young brother. For your family, you and your father a better 2006 year and the best to you all.
Excelent notes as usual so well detailed and a great simple composition so well managed with light, colors and graphic artwork vision.
Quality, winter approaching view very well detailed and with a subtil creative touch, what is great to begin the new year.
I'm expecting the new post of your father but I have time.
Best to both and also family in this new year and also controversial time.
Thanks for your contribution and sharing hearts.

I see that you got some snow in Denmark too. Nice winter landscape with the old church behind the wall. I like the late day light and the big dark trees on the sides. Well done! Önskar dig ett Gott Nytt År!

Hope you enjoyed your sojourn in Vellerup. I like this low light vista, with the bleakness of winter all pervasive. The snowy wall nicely frames the scene. I like the POV and the interesting home in the distance. All the very best for 2006, Lars.

Hi Lars, Happy 2006.
You have well show the heavy snow in this picture. Good PoV. It looks that the snow is overflow out from the yard fenced inside. Good contrast, depth, and nice frame. Well done.

Tak for synet.

Bonsoir mon ami Lars,

You captured a nice wintermood in this shot.Good composition too,the included wall with the zig-zag pattern on top adds the necessary foreground interest.
Beste wensen voor 2006!

Hey Lars. Good to see you're back. The steep hillside really get's ones attention. Given the lighting it seems just fine. Nice take Lars!

Nice church, good POV. Well done.

From the thumbnail I thought it is in BW but realized it was the result of the snow and the bleak and cold atmosphere. I like the composition with the trees on both sides providing some darker tones and the little touches of colours are interesting and attractive. Brilliant shot!! All good wishes.

Mooie foto.

Happy New Year Lars - very peaceful place with the snow probably silencing the traffic noise, I like the shapes of the trees, maybe I'd move a little bit to the left so the trees are not hiding too much of the church.

Sfeervolle wintercapture!

30 cm! that's a lot of snow!
Lovely view of the church through the trees. I like the little "pie-crust" edge to the wall in the foreground; the snow emphasises the pattern

Happy new year Lars,
thanks for the visit from this Island this looks to be a very nice and confidential place to visit.
I like the composition, there is an effect giving idea of a great quantity of snow. The greay weather goes well with the church and cemetary.
A good one

Lars, excellent capture. I wish you a happy new year!
Nice darkness and the calmed place was great.

You're back !!
I can understand you were under the snow, in the cold... The winter is here, in your compo ! You found it !
Happy new year to you and your family.
jbweasle (9373) 2006-01-05 15:13
Lars, the desaturated tone of this image conveys the cold well. It's a bleak scene, well framed bu the dark trees.
Didi (54995) 2006-01-06 3:49
Happy new year Lars.
I note that it snowed much in the north of Europe. In spite of the gray sky the picture is well presented.

Godt Nytaar, Lars. I just commented on your father's church shot from Denmark and now yours. This one needs a bit of correcting I think. The church tower looks tilted to the right and that wall in front seems quite dominating. I may try a workshop later.
apazevedo (5469) 2006-02-05 13:45
A very nice landscape and church, Lars, I like the perspective and POV, as well as the general composition of this very pleasant work!
jafadabret (56497) 2006-03-13 6:32
riclopes (35577) 2006-03-24 3:33
This is a very wintery image! I like your composition with the sight of the church in the back and all the surroundings around. This wall in foreground, with the design of the tiles, makes a good framing and the big naked trees on the sides balance well the image and lead our eyes to the church. Also nice to see all the ciprests (? pinetrees) around it and their contrast with all this white of the snow.
p.s.- hope to see sun and hot days soon for all of us.
emjleclercq (15780) 2007-10-28 13:53
A real winter view, with a lot of snow and not many colors, but I like the way you managed to integrate the small wall in the foreground in the composition.
All the best,
