Photographer’s Note
...I will take you back to the white cliffs as I promised , to see the big slide - one of two slides in January .
This you might call the last echo of " The Great Orator " ( the name of this particular part of the white cliffs ).
Around half a million tonnes of chalk now form a peninsula that stretches about 300 meters from the coast .
The chalk is also taken further away . Around most of the island's coastline the water often aquires a fascinating jadegreen and turquise colour ( shown in my previous photos ).
The cliffs are made of chalk , which is the remains of microscopic plants and animals . They inhabited the sea about 70 million years ago in such abundance , that in time a layer measuring more than 100 meters was formed .
Some 100.000 years ago the ice age glaciers pushed up the flakes to form " mountains " and "falls" that characterises the cliffs as they appear today .
In 10.000 years , this landscape will be forever gone
-given back to the sea.
If you take a closer look at the photo you may be able to see two people on the beach a bit left in the middle of the photo . This will give you an idea of the size of the slide .
In the workshop , I show you a piece of idyllic landscape , " Jydelejet " which you have to pass , unless you walk all the way along the narrow path along the 10 kilometers of Moens Cliffs .
I will also show you where the track has vanished into the deep .
Hope you will enjoy this very special landscape .
Have a nice weekend .
greetings
Dorte.

Hello Dorte,
stunning colours captured here. That water is mirror-calm! Nice work, I love the curve of beach and the effect created on the left especially. It looks unusually quiet, perhaps only because it was taken in january.
Kind Regard.

Hi Dorte. I still cannot get over the colour of the sea mixed with the pure white of the chalky sand. Amazing to see nature in ceaceless motion and change.Impressive PoV and note. All the best. Klaudio.

Hi Dorte,
That is one amazing sight and very interesting write up. The color of the water is quite facinating ... just like one of our lakes here. Well captured and composed. Excellent work! tfs

Hi Dorte,
The colour of the water and the contrasting colour of the sand looks great. I am glad you pointed out that the specs were people as it was difficult to the scale. A lovely image with a great POV.
Cheers,
Debbie

Hallo Dorte!
After my holidays I walked around your collection - and I found this one. At the first glance it's a bit confusing but in combination with your very informative note one can imagine what happend here. This is erosion in big steps.
The colours in this picture are really amazing and in spite of the destruction (is it one...!?) this must be a great place.
Greetings rom hot and sunny Siegen - and have a nice and sunny weekend too!
