Photographer's Note
I do not know the correct name for this insect, we have always called them Horse Flies, but they give a very nasty bite if aroused.

Hello Mike,
Yes, we have always known them by the name of horseflies as well. And, they do have a very nasty bite as my wife can testify; they seem to avoid me for some reason as do mosquitoes fortunately. The flower is very attractive and you have captured it in excellent detail, whilst making it stand out well from the background.
Saw the last of Borgen series two last night, very good. I believe there is at least one more series in the offing?
