I was looking for a photo that somewhat depicts the current pre-Christmas time, but I don’t have so many and finally opted for this one taken a year ago in Copenhagen. Nyhavn, or “the new port”, is a canal in the center of Copenhagen (which itself etymologically means “the port of the merchants”). In old days, Nyhavn was a place for sailors and the port was socially divided in two parts, the “naughty side” and the “nice side”. The famous Danish writer H. C. Andersen wrote his first fairy tale in one of Nyhavn houses (no 20), lived for 19 years in another one (no 67, on the shown side, although I’m not 100% sure), and ended his life in yet another one (no 18). Nowadays Nyhavn is one of Copenhagen tourist attractions while being also very popular with the locals. That is thanks to its atmosphere, the still present sailing ships, the colourful facades of the old houses, and the numerous outdoor restaurants and bars. Photos of Nyhavn are certainly not a rarity, but the ones with the canal covered with ice are likely much less frequent.

J'aime bien cette longue perspective de bateaux et de mats dans le port de Copenhague et la douce lumière hivernale qui illumine les façades des maisons
Atmosphère très hivernale avec ce canal gelé
Une bien belle image
Bon WE, amitiés

Somerhing nice, atmospheric photo port. Feel the atmosphere of upcoming Christmas!. Do not bother me that done in 2010. The most important thing for me is to catch the moment and putting it in 100% of the photograph. For me, great!

What a gorgeous winter time shot Claude. Snow dusted roofs and boats, ice in the harbour, Christmas lights and lovely warm sunlight. A very attractive and well managed scene. Best regards Rosemary

A well angled photo which captures the gentle sunlight and the details of the shaded areas equally well. Strong perspective and fine repeating patterns of boats, masts, houses, windows. An excellent note, too - thanks! Can we presume that the scene looks very similar this year?

lovely scene, the river in shade emphasises the coldness of the water, while the sun illuminating the buildings is wonderful. the boats are well placed. excellent viewpoint.

You found a very nice view point here and good diagonal touch taking the eyes into the far bg with some lovely detail in wonderful low light. A nice strong composition and great pespective in wonderful colors. Reflections in the water is simply gorgeous, a fine addition to this cold day. Well spotted and taken, Congrats

This is a realy good image of this famous street and canal. I have not seen a winter shot before and you have all the ingredients of a great photo here - lovely light, colour and a great composition. The icy canal and the covering of snow really adds to the beauty. Excellent.

This is a place I like a lot and you have captured it wonderfully. Both the light and the snow give a lovely atmosphere and the boats are simply fascinating!
A masterful capture and a high quality image.

Une atmosphère très froide se dégage de ta photo. La ville semble figée dans la neige et la glace, la lumière blanche propre au nord... Beau cadrage et superbe gestion de la lumière.
Merci pour cette promenade,

I like your shot from Copenhagen's Nyhavn new port in winter scenery. The sailing-boats are covered with snow and waiting for spring time.
Great diagonal compositiotn that shows nicely boats and old buildings of the harbour. The colors, litght and sharpness are very good.
Thanks for sharing and all the best.

I like how the sun just touches the top of the houses, adding some brilliance to the colours there, while leaving the coloured boats and cabins in the shade below.

This is a good example of low warm sunlight on the buildings,it makes the dark shady forground also interesting, this is a fine wintervieuw Claude.

very nicely composed photo with nice colors and atmosphere.

I like the lighting in this photo. It's great that the rays of sun fall directly on the colorful facades. I also like how the scene is presented on a diagonal. I can certainly get a sense of how cold it must have been with the ice and frost, as well.
