Photographer’s Note

I still have doubts about this shot (composition and colours/contrast), yet I will post it... just for a change - at least I see a bit of humour in it. What about you? :)

This shot was taken unexpectedly near Café Norden at 11.15 AM, right after we came out of it, having eaten so much that this amount of "food fuel" was enough to last till late evening when we got back to Stockholm!
I did not expect dishes to be so big (at least, for me!).

Yet, it was the only cafe we could find to have lunch after a tiresome morning flight and waiting at the airport (we got up at 4 AM).

The prices are a bit too high, imho, but the quality of food was OK - at least for us hungry tourists! besides, it was very cold outside, and very warm inside. So it was quite cosy there.

It is not an advertisement of this cafe, it is just the story of this shot :)

As I have doubts about this photo (the only variant I have), I will post another one - a closeup vertical cropped version - in the Workshop for you to see more details and to compare which of these two is (maybe!) better.

Hi dear Elena. Still doubting your skills. One of the few TE members who seems to deliberate deeply about the next move. You are not a chess player by any chance? Õîðîøàÿ ôîòêà, íàñ÷åò òîãî ñìåøàíÿ îíà èëè íåò - íå çíàþ.

I prefer the original version as it is shown here and I like also the note you've done. The reflections on the windows are fine and contrast is overall good.

Hi Elena,
what a sense of humor! I think you have found a nice and representative place for your lunch that you have very nicely captured with a great management of the light. The cold colors are matching the atmosphere of the city very well.
Hopefully you will not leave TE and find yourself a new place to sit on this site that from my point of view has improved a lot!

Les reflets bleus donnent un contraste intéressant avec la teintes des pierres de cette architecture et j'aime le cadrage de ce lecteur dans le coin bas à gauche.

dear Elena,
I like both the cafe and the shot of it, and this shot is my favorite.
in your shot, the air is cold and outside chairs are vacant, the sky is deep blue and chairs are shining white. if I were there, I would enjoy coffee at this outside position, and moreover enjoy the atmosphere of this clear and bright comfort.
in my feeling, your WS picture is more interesting. because it is the shot of this cafe(posting one is the building).
anyway, this open cafe without customers but clear light is impressive to my eyes,

i like your eye for details, this is a photo captured at the right moment. No doubt :))
I like the light very much, that kind that we have in
the winter in the North - clear air and low sunlight, if you know what i mean.
Very fine colors and good sharpness.
I hope you stay here at TE. I like your photos a lot, especially your excellent photos from Stockholm.

I imagine this is a good time you invite me to sit here for a drink and chat over photography :) The empty chairs tell me it is too cold outside!

But I am drawn by the deep blue tinted window glass.

I think your doubt must come from a lack of a strong subject here, apart from the architecture appeal and light.

Hi Elena,
When I see the date this photo was taken, I can understand it was too cold to sit outside here. I just can´t understand why someone bothered to put out all the furniture. A funny picture in many ways. Also a fine and well composed picture of this Nordic café at Strøget!
