Photographer’s Note
This photo was taken somewhere near Frederiksholms kanal.
In my notes to previous photos taken in Copenhagen on that day I stated that the lighting conditions were simply awful both for me and my camera. So in this photo you can see how it was!
Half of the city was drowned in bluish deep shade whereas the other half was warmly and brightly sunlit!
Here is a link to another photo which was taken quite close to this place.
You can also look at this photo (also quite close to this place).
About the shot:
Shot in RAW, converted to JPG.

Hi Elena.
Very nice capture of lovely lighting on the buildings, well detailed shady areas and shimmering reflection. Your post processing has produced a pleasing result and the CPL a superb deep blue sky. Beautiful winter day!
Regards,
Andrew

Hello my dear Elena
The location is very good, objects are so colorful. But I am not sure the direction(which side is north and south?) Depending on the direction and if you have time, you may avoid the shade in the left side buildings and can expect more the reflection on the right side building, but I am not sure, sorry.
Best regards

Hello Elena,
A very nice play of shade and light with these typische coluured houses of Copenhagen. Beautiful coloured refelctions in the kanal too. The peoples gives an interesting element of life and an idea of the scale.
Best regards,
Roger

Hello Elena,
Beautiful buildings and very fine colours. You have squeezed remarkably many details and colours out of the shaded parts of the picture, which I find quite impressive.
Best regards,
Gert

dear Elena,
"buildings and canal" are wonderful photogenic motive, and
"light and shadow" are picturesque element of views,
in this shot, you succeeded well to combine these two characteristics of objective Copenhagen city.
and those really reflect our sensation on the picture.
because our minds are always swinging between
light and shadow (joy and sad, or hope and despair...), or
buildings and canal (still and motion, now and history...).
this scene reminds me of similar sights of old trading city in the world. those are tasteful and nostalgic like this shot.
then right-angled buildings, curved canal and diagonal light are making nice depth of space in this image.
thank you,
Akihisa

Hej Elena,
I like the strong contrast between light an shadow here. Beautiful houses in both parts of the picture and an abundance of windows! What time of the day was this (and what software do you use for the RAW conversion)?
Kind regards
Gunnar

Lights, shadows...and colours too. That red facade at the right is really eye catching! But your are right: it's mainly the light, its quality, and the contrast with the shadows, the main feature of this photo. I do love these austere buildings by the sea quay and the fine reflecions on the water.
All the best,
Donato

Hi Elena!
You gladden us bright shot from Scandinavia again. You could overcome difficulties connected with "awful" lighting conditions excelellently. Very nice shot.
Best regards.

Hi Elena,
Even that you had difficulties with high contrasts, you have managed to produce readable shady areas and perfectly exposed highlights in a photo with a very beautiful winter light. A pleasant atmosphere. Good natural colours and excellent clarity. Excellent work!
Greetings and have a nice Sunday,
Lasse

Hello Elena
The contrast between the light & shaded areas creates interest...but that's largely due to the good exposure control you used here. The red building on the right catches the eye. Liked both your other images as well, especially the one with baby carriage, which to me seems quite unusual as well. The reflections are fine in this picture & adds to the beauty. Well done!
Regards
Angshu
