Photographer’s Note
I got the chance to visit a place not normally open for the public, namely the attic of the church in Vester Skerninge – a village at the southern of Fyn – population 1500.
Like most Danish churches was the cornerstones founded around 1200 and for the first 400 years was the ceiling plain and strait, made of wood.
Around 1600 was it decided to make the type of ceiling on the photos – as it can be seen takes the bows up most of the space under the roof. The wood floor quite new and makes it esay to walk around inspecting.
The change of architecture gave a new problem as the walls came under pressure and hence it became necessary to put in anchors on the walls (outside) connected to iron bars.
More information can be found on this former photo.
About the ship model - Ships like this can be found in almost every Danish church - In fact this part of the church called the Ship.
For well hundred years ago many Danes was sailors and some gave this models to god as a gratitude after surviving a storm

Hi Jeppe, A very educational shot and informative notes. Thanks for showing us the special view of the top of roof. I was always wondering that what it looks alike at the top of the roof. A quality shot with good use of light and nice clarity.

Hi Jeppe,
This is excellent work in the series of architectural engineering. Being an architectural engineer of origin I do appreciate this collage extremely (including the WS of course).
A very educating contribute to TE.

Hej Jeppe,
Rigtig flot, disse to billeder der viser både kirken og dens loft. Jeg kan godt lide kontrasten mellem de varme farver i det øverste billede og de kolde farver i det nederste.
God weekend!

Hi Jeppe. Thanks for posting this as I find all of this very interesting. I've never seen a ship in a church like that but it makes perfect sense when you explain it. Both images are well composed. tfs Jeppe!

Hello Jeppe,

Interesting double-feature in this posting, Jeppe. I appreciate the view from the attic that is indeed a rare sight for "normal" visitors. The church interior came out pretty nice, too, although on that one I would have tried just a fraction more brightening or contrast enhancement. Great notes, too, thanks.

Hi Jeppe
Wonderful symmetry & repetition of curves in both images, which nicely compliment one another. Excellent sharpness & lighting. Tfs!

Hi Jeppe,
A fascinating exposition as to the architectural development of this church and portrayal in the two shots. As Rob notes, this is a very fine contribution to TE and an original way to present your subject. The clarity and detail are superb throughout. Let me say that the photo collage, like the church, is the work of a master craftsman.

This realy a very interesting work to show and in the TE spirit, a good composition (two here) hich means something.
The sip in the "ship" is a nice detail we have some here like this and I always like to see.

Hi Jeppe, for archi-buffs like me this a real treat. It's a very clever combination of pics, showing us the architecture from different perspectives. Glad you you seized on the oppertunity to visit the attack. I appreciate you linking this to a pic with yest another perspective. Very interesting work.
Have a nice weekend,
Bert

Rolig idé att kombinera de två fotona. De kompletterar varandra behagligt i tonerna också.
