I just heard a traffic warning on the radio – ”Beware ducklings on the highway E20”.
It seems many duck-mothers hatch there eggs pretty far from the lakes where the kids will be safe until grown up. This little family had to walk at least 1 km before they could get their first swim
(I’m impressed there mother knew the way – but may be she done the way her self as duckling ;-)
I also came in mind an old Poster – “Wonderful Copenhagen” – from 1959 by Viggo Vagnby, which was inspired, by this kind of event.
It wasn’t easy to get this shot – the mother said “hurry hurry kids” and my camera not that fast :-)

A cute scene of the little ducklings following their mother, Jeppe. You were quick to snap this one in good sharpness and very nice details in the plumage of the birds. Simple, but very nice.

A cute one! The ducklings seems so soft en vulnerable, it is good the are walking by the side of the road. I like the way the mother is walking in front, like a real leader. Nice tigh composition.

What a sweet shot Jeppe, thanks for sharing. A very disciplined family seemingly. I wonder if the were walking on the right side of the road.

Very charming this capture of the mother with her chickens out in the big world.

Hi Jeppe, A nice action shot of the Mammy and babies. A very interesting background in matching, in some sense, the mother duck's feather patterns. A very nice and clear picture with good contrast and sharpness.

A most pleasant subject, you had to be quick for that one , indeed as she protects her babies.

ce genre de photo me séduit à chaque fois, je suis très sensible à cet complicité et affection entre parents et petits.
On les croirait sur le chemin des écoliers.
Excellente technique pour la prise, couleurs, mise au point, cadrage.

Hi Jeppe, You have an eye for funny moments. The ground must be hard and warm on their feet after one kilometer. With this close framing you isolated them from their natural environment. It is funny how that leads me to look at them as human characters.
danielswalsh (13599) 2005-08-03 2:06
Great shot Jeppe!
I like how the blue and the yellow really sticks out from the rest of the shot.
I'm guessing it was luck that you happened to capture the 2 different types of pavement, which by chance happens to add to the composition.
Nicely done Jeppe,

Lovely photo of ducklings and how they instinctively follow their mother. Nice shot!
All the best,
Zanni (6108) 2005-09-16 14:52
Hmmmm, these "boys" are too much "mammoni" that is an italian word that means they are still too much dependent on their mother. Look at these one: poor mother!
Nice catch. Good for the theme. I'd would have liked to see the surrounding.
Hanssie (10886) 2005-09-24 11:47
It's not easy indeed with the older digital camera's, before you know, you have a half-family:-))
Therefore, a nice succes you have here, all in the family and in a good light too !
Funny and sweet shot !
