The Wall – Artistic brickwork in the Louisiana museum of modern art.

The Louisiana Museum of Modern Art is located directly on the shore of the Øresund in Humlebæk 35 kilometers north of Copenhagen in Denmark. It has a wide range of modern art paintings, sculptures and videos, including works by artists such as Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol, Anselm Kiefer, Alberto Giacometti and Pablo Picasso. The videos are often housed in room settings where the viewer is made to feel part of the scene being portrayed. Perched above the sea, there is a sculpture garden between the museum's two wings with works by artists including Henry Moore, Alexander Calder, and Jean Arp. The name of the museum derives from the first owner of the property, Alexander Brun, who named it for his three wives, each with the name of Louise.

Brickwork masonry is produced when a bricklayer uses bricks and mortar to build up structures such as walls, bridges and chimneys. Brickwork is also used to finish openings such as doors or windows in buildings made of other materials. Where the bricks are to remain fully visible, as opposed to being covered up by plaster or stucco, this is known as face-work.
Bricks are laid to expose their ends (Header bricks), or sides (Stretcher bricks). As the work progresses, the bricks are laid in rows called courses. The manner in which the bricks overlap as they are laid up is called the bond of which there are two main types: half bond and quarter bond. Types of bonding arrangements include English bond, Flemish bond, and Herringbone bond, but the most common type of brickwork seen these days is the simple stretcher bond, showing only the long side-surface of the brick.

Hello Rob,

Graphical photo with a very strong optical effect. The high contrast increases even more the effect providing an almost B&W picture.
The tilted point of view allowed to provide a kind of dynamic in the reading of the pattern.

Yves.

Hej Rob,
just a good one for scrolling effects with the mouse if the upper part is a bit hidden. Works only in using a mouse wheel.
(not only good in that way)
Good presentation of this wall structure. The angle with the holes getting smaller adds depth and changes the effect.
Lieben Gruss, Ulf

Hi Rob

Reminds me of the old Pink Floydd song! Wonderful repetition of graphic patterns with good contrast & sharpness. Tfs!

You have captured very good patterns in the brickwork. By choosing to shoot from an angle there are a variety of ways to look at the patterns. Well done
Kath

Hi Rob,

Bedankt!

Groeten uit Vlaanderen,
John.

Rob,
The graphical effects are very beautiful and interesting in this photo. The point of veiw is nice in order to get profundity in your picture. Very well done.

regards

Paulo

Hello Rob.

Hi Rob,

A superb artwork shot. You presentation of it is fantastic. I love the scolling effects and it is also a vertigo feeling looking at it you could see patterns in it that are changing. When fist looking at it you see horisontal lines but all of a sudden you see a >>>>>>-pattern in it. Really fascinating!

Cheers,

Ulf

Hola Rob.
This is really an impressive shot, graphical, sharp and with great optical illusion. Maybe you should try this: move your picture up and down keeping your shot inside your computer frame and you will see how your shot moves, funny but very amazing. Never saw this before.
Well done.
Best regards.

Hi Rob. Very abstract! I feel I little dizzy just looking at this shot ;-). You have managed a nice 3D effect from a 2D wall. Well seen and well captured. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers, Paul.

Bonsoir Rob
