Frederiksborg Slot II
Here is my second picture of Frederiksborg Slot in Hillerød, Frederiksborg Amt.
It is taken earlier at the day and shows you the main part of the castle.
The first picture can be seen here.
Frederiksborg Slot is located on three small islands in Slotsøen (Castle Lake). It was built as a royal residence for King Christian IV (1577-1648). It is the largest renaissance castle in Scandinavia. The first parts were built by King Frederik II (1534-1588), Christian's father, and date back to 1560. Frederik II gave the castle also its name. However most of the current castle was built between 1602-1620 by Christian IV and designed by the Dutch architects Hans and Lorents van Steenwinckel. The castle is built in Dutch Renaissance-style, just as many other buildings in Copenhagen, that date back to Christian IV's time, like Børsen (Stock Exchange) and Rosenborg Slot.
After Christian IV's death, the castle was mainly used for ceremonies, especially to crown the Danish Monarchs. In 1720 Freden i Frederiksborg (Treaty of Frederiksborg) was signed here, that ended Den store nordiske krig (Great Northern War, 1700-1721), between Denmark-Norway and Sweden.
Nowadays the castle is used as a museum, Frederiksborgmuseet (The Frederiksborg Museum) or Det Nationalhistoriske Museum (Museum of National History). This museum was founded in 1878 by brewer J.C. Jacobsen of the Carlsberg Breweries, who also funded the reconstruction of the castle after a large fire in 1859.
I hope you like this picture! :-)

Hi Lars, I like this beautifully composed picture. The silhouette view of the statues on the left hand side of this picture is especially well designed together with the colorful bright castle in the center. Good timing for this picture to show the multi-dimensional feature of this place. The shadows enable us to see the shapes of the buildings behind the camera. The shade of the status at the lower center made a beautiful shadow to the front wall. A very well taken picture with great details and sharpness. Well done.

Bonjour Lars,

Hi Lars, another good shot of this interesting building. The lighting is wonderful. Unfortunately this causes some distracting shadows but this can't be helped at this time of day.

Very nice shot! The building itself is very beautiful and interesting, with the intricate roofline and tower, and your shot shows it off to the maximum. I like the colour combination too, with the warm red of the building contrasting with the cool blue sky. Well done!

Hi Lars. Well your light and composition are both outstanding. Basically a perfect shot and I can't see anyway it could be improved on. Nice one Lars!

Hej Lars,
A nice castle that stands well out against the sky, especially for its warm walls contrasting with the blue sky.
Have a nice day,

Wonderful light you had that gives strong light/shade contrasts; I don't object to the shadows at all. The light also gives its warm glow to the castle. I love how you included the silhouetted statue with its shadow in the door archway.

Hi Lars - beautiful architecture, and well presented with the low light. Some people prefer a human presence to give it scale, but I prefer the absence of people like here.

Hello Lars,
Another excellent view of Fredriksborgs Slot. Also here the light is excellent and I love the shadow of the tower and the silhouette of the statue against the sky to the left.
Greetings,

Davs Lars

Hi Lars,
An inspiring, well composed shot. The building is portrayed bathed in a golden light, with good play of shadows. All the fine details are clearly seen. I like the statue on the left, as it both balances and enhances the scene. Great capture.

Hej Lars,
Heerlijke plaat!
Goed weekend,

Hola Lars.
Again an impressive shot of this beautiful castle. Taken at the exact moment to be able to obtain such nice colours and great details, very good lighting. Good POV. Looks like behind you there is another interesting building, we are able to see the shadow in the facade of the castle.
Very well done. TFS.
Have a nice weekend.

Bonjour Lars.
Hello Lars.
The luminosity is very appreciable on this composition where architecture is well positioned with a perfectly released foreground.

Hi Lars,

Hej Lars,
Today, your last post made me to do a carefull visit to this series and that bring me to here. I find the slot IV very nice, but also very similar to the slot I. This closer aproach has a beautiful game of shadows. I like specially the sillouette of the statue on the left and the way it is well balanced with the shadow in the right side of the façade.
It must be wonderful to explore the interiors of this castle...
Very good work!
