This is impressive. I can almost feel the heat from the flames of that bonfire! Ths sunlight is shimmering through the heat-haze above the flames too!

Hi Romana,
Spotlighting shot with the effects of flames and the burning thing (puppet, I guess?)...
Effects of flames is so powerful that it is hard to distinguish sun and flames.
Witch is a great concept to ascertain, there is this belief indicating witches as evil in so many cultures. But behind the evil belief, witches are defined in so many different perspectives by many populations. One of the most common counter-belief is to be "healers" for both human and nature. Said to have mixtures of herbals for diseases, said to call for rain to watering and many more...
But it is an undeniable fact that witches are the source of so many traditions such as Halloween. Such days are great opportunities for both local people to get together, as you say, but also great for photographic purposes :)

Very powerful image with great colours and lightness! The flames did nice thing to the sun light creating a horizontal beam of light. Thank you for the note.

Excellent and very exciting shot. You have captured both the fire and the setting sun in a wonderful way. I am a bit surprised that you celebrate the Walpurgis day in the Czech Republic. We do it exactly in the same way with fires in Sweden on the 30 April. TFS and have a nice Sunday!

Hi I find this one incredible, all the textures visible on this picture is interesting. Great sharpness of the fire and nice effect of the hot air, The red orange fit well with the black. Maybe the dark frame is a bit heavy but how ever thumbs up!

Beautiful strong colors and abstract effect with the sun behind the flames! You know, recently in the news, there was a case of 11 people who were burned alive by an angry crowd in Kenya because they were suspected of witchcraft. So, your picture, even if it is related to the tradition in Czech republic, doesn't speak only about ancient times but also of the reality of nowadays. In this perspective, I can see in your picture, despite its poetic vision, the crude representation of the human madness.
