Skyline of Prague.
The picture is taken at the end of a summer day on the tower Staroměstská věž at the old town side of the famous Charles Bridge into the direction of the old town.
Prague is called ‘the city of one hundred spires’ (stovezata Praha).
This name comes from the beginning of 19th century from the Czech writer Josef Hormayer. In that time the number of the spires in Prague was 103.
Today the Czech capital has more than 500 spires. |

Hello Paul,
brilliant picture of Prague towers and spires, with pleasant warm light and good composition. As every Czech I have known the name "stovezata Praha" but I did not know where it comes from, so your information is also very interesting for me.
Thanks for sharing,
Markéta
The light is great, maybe the top of the left spire is too close to the top edge of the frame.
Hello Paul,
Very pretty photo of the splendid roof of Praha. Beautiful harmony of colours with a good balance between reds, greens and yellows.
Good evening,
Roger
Hi Paul,
