Photographer’s Note
The family of Witigonen (Vitkovci) belonged to the most significant and the oldest Czech families which settled the region of South Bohemia.
According to the legend the family has its origins in Ancient Rome. Witigonen were related to the Roman Ursini family, who is said to have resided on the mountain "Mons Rosarum", near the city of Rome. After Rome was plundered by the hordes of the Visigoth, the family left the city, and one of its members named Vítek travelled together with his wife and child up to the north, passed the Donau river and settled in Southern Bohemia. He started a new family there and gradually acquired extensive domains, which he gave to his five sons before his death. Each son received a coat-of-arms with a five-petalled rose, the color of which symbolized each particular dominion.
So much for legend. Tommorow we'll get to know some of the historical reality.
So, the new serie from the Czech Republic.

This natural arc framing with a mess of roofs below makes the shot very nice. Good composition!

Gorgeous capture of this beautiful little town! Love the framing at the top of the image, peering through the archway at this red roofs with just enough water in the foreground to give nice depth/height.

Hi Mat,
You are achieving remarkable results with your recent posts, particularly in composition and clarity. This is a storybook shot taken from an ideal POV showing all the remarkable details of the buildings. The slice of hill and sky beyond perfectly frames the scene. This is very fine work that deserves tons of points.

Hi Mat - very nice frame on top, and the town is very charming, I also like the interesting sky. I have a nearly identical shot, but under very strong sunlight.

hello
joli cadrage très original
les couleurs sont saturées et agréable à l'oeil
cela donne envie d'aller visiter ce lieu
les parasols blancs en bas de l'image apporte quelque chose de plus à l'image

Mat -
I really love the red roofs with the little splashes of color mixed in. Very well done to hold the exposure of the foreground and the background without one being too dark or the other overexposed. Bohemia must be a very photogenic place - all of your images are very nice and pleasing. I have shown my wife your portfolio and she mentioned that maybe we should but Bohemia on our to do list.
Thanks for sharing

Hi Mat;
I like what you've done with the shot of this town. With the inclusion of the arch at the top of the frame- it almost feels like a sceen from a "snow globe".
Nicely done!

Hi Mat - I almost forgot you were visiting Telc, CK and the other towns just 3 weeks after me. So I'm now checking your CK shots. This composition is special with the arch precisely covering the sky area. The repetition of orange roofs and their details is pretty, and the sharpness excellent. I also tried something from this POV up there, but the result was no satisfactory. So I'm happy I found this excellent shot of yours. Congratulations, Daniel
