across the border - Trebic Photo

Photographer’s Note

I was encouraged by MarekP to go and visit Trebic during my trip to the Czech Republic. And now, I must say it was a good choice to see this charming little town.

It was taken from the same POV as the image, called Trebic #1.
There is a footbridge over the Jihlava river, which bridges two parts of this historic town - the one with main square (unvisible) with the Jewish quarter(visible).

The Jewish town grew up for many centuries in a limited area, bound by Hradek cliffs, the Jihlava river and other Christian structures. The preserved quarter, which comprises of 123 houses, belongs among unique European architecture. Narrow streets, public passages, porches and galleries complete its original atmosphere. Besides the two synagogues, the cemetery and the rows of residential houses, the former school, hospital and almshouse is worth seeing.

The Jewish town of Trebic, along with cemetery and the St. Prokop Basilica (visible on the left hand), is registered in UNESCO's World Natural and Cultural Heritage List.

You did well in visiting ths interesting city.
Very nice view, with the predominant colors very vivid and sharp.
The weather helped you a lot with that marvelous blue sky.

Hi Mat,
A very well composed scene, with excellent colour, clarity and contrast. I really like your choice of the portrait format here to display the scene. The angle of the two shores is artistically pleasing and the proportion of sky is superb. This is well framed and cropped for dramatic effect. Well captured.

Hi Mat,
I like this landscape, especially the colors which are bright and vivid.
The exposure is perfect and let us see both the foreground and the beautiful sky.
The composition is great with the foreground river directing the eye toward the houses.

Hi Mat,
I'm glad you liked Trebic and that you had apparently much better weather there than me. The photo is nice and very colorfull. I like inclusion of left-hand river bank too, because it makes the composition deeper and well balanced.
