I want to draw a new country on my map today.

This sight is certainly already very present on TE, but it's the only picture I have.

This church was founded in 1385 during the tumultuous period when the ‘heretic’ Hussites were slaughtered by the ruling Roman Catholics. The Catholic Jesuits then made the church their own by recasting the bell and replacing the Hussites symbolic chalice with the ten-foot figure of Mary nailed up between the towers today.

Notice the two spires are not symmetrical. This was characteristic of the gothic architecture of the time which tried to represent both the masculine and feminine sides of the world.

Hello Pascal,
I like these old churches a lot. They are monuments of ancient architecture and represent a lot of history, not always pleasant as you describe on your note.
This one is very interesting... I had never heard about that lack of symmetry... thanks for the cultural info ! :)
Regards,

Celso

Pascal,

was this scanned? It looks like it may have lost some of the color quality. Its also a tad dark. Anyway, I think you composed this very nicely, we get a great view on the church.

Hi Pacal!
I like this church, is good composed. I was in Prague about 5 year ago and I remember this place. Thanks for sharing!
Regards.

Salut Pascal

Hi Pascal, A very nice composition and good holiday mood in this picture. Good contrast and nice sharpness. I’d suggest you to crop out the left hand side slide of other buildings and the man at the corner. It drags some viewing attention. A nice capture and a nice photo.

Hi Pascal - nice reminder of Burma under the czech occupation, it must have been record cold weather too, try walking in longyyi and barefoot in this cold.
(thanks for the idea, I think I will try posting from the same country for 2 consecutive days)
