Photographer’s Note

This is one of the small streets in Zamosti -- the old Jewish quarter of Trebic. In contrast to the photo of Zmosti I've posted yesterday, houses are more renovated here, but they still preserv their medieval and rather mysterious look and feel.

Zamosti -- consisting of over 100 houses in the limited area along the Jihlava River -- is a unique document of Jewish culture in Moravia and the only Jewish monument outside Israel specifically placed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

It looks like marshmallow colours. The green spot in the background though creates a nice contrast. What i like most is the idea of the wall going on the feet of the walker. It looks like the soil was being broken because of the wall.

Godd upwards perspective here in this nice old street, the stairways provide good depth and the arch an attractive framing, I'm a bit surprised by the colrs of the wall that look quite meridional, I'd expect those colors more from Italy or so...

Hi Marek, this shots from Zamosti reminds me some places in Portugal, Óbidos, Sintra or even old quarters in Lisbon. Our origins are not Jewish, so we don't have the unique Jewish mood or tradicions. But the colours, narrow streets and alleys really look-a-like.
