This is the Powder Gate in central Prague. It is adjacent to the Municipal House at right. After a couple of day's rain in Bavaria it was nice to see a blue sky. From obecni-dum website: "The adjacent Powder Gate, a unique fragment of Prague’s Old Town fortifications dating from the Gothic period, recalls the times when an important trade route arrived at this point. This was probably only one of many reasons why King Wenceslas IV. decided in the late 14th century to establish his residence in this area, beside the fortification walls. The residence was given the name King’s Court.
The site also served Bohemian rulers during the unsettled times of the Hussite revolution, and was finally abandoned only when Vladislav II of the Jagellon dynasty left the place and moved back to Prague Castle. As late as 1475 however, King Vladislav personally laid a foundation stone for a new gate that was to be built in the fortification wall to replace the previous one which was so rundown it had been nicknamed the ”Ragged Gate”.
The Habsburgs who began their reign in Bohemia in 1526 were no longer interested in the King’s Court and left the former royal residence unoccupied. The empty and deteriorating palace was purchased in 1631 by Cardinal Arnost Harrach from Polyxena of Lobkowitz, who established an archiepiscopal seminary there. Following a fire in 1689 the complex was rebuilt and remodelled, and St. Vojtech’s Church was added.
At that time the gate was used as a storage place for gunpowder and that’s how it later got its name the Powder Gate or Powder Tower." It is actually both because the arch is a gate through to the old square.

Excellent composition with the historic architecture outlined against the clear blue sky. Beautiful details on the gateway are displyed with excellent sharpness and clarity. Great composition in the vertical format. The people on the road effectively animate the scene.
Thanks for sharing and have a great day.

an image of contrasts this. Old intricate historical architecture pitched against the sleeker and smooth lines of the new. It makes for a compelling and fascinating mix. Lots of wonderful detail to admire on this impressive gate too!
Enjoy the week ahead - B.

An eclectic mix of architectural styles to be seen in this well presented composition. I like the point of view and the choice of the vertical format. The visitors bring an animated atmosphere to the scene as well as offering a sense of scale. The image is pleasantly illuminated and has good colours and excellent detail.

The presence of the people has an effect of scale. The point of voew is allowing me to distinguish the details and the colors of the architecture of the Powder gate. The good luminosity is enhancing the colors. Have a nice day.

One of the two places I got lost even though had a map on hand... the other place was in Milano.
I was drawn to this Powder-tower, stood under its archs and exit to the wrong direction we planed to go at first...
It is a very impressive and unique tower, you managed so well to show with all of its glory, under bright daylight and with psople around.

Your composition is nice here using the vertical format to give us close up detail of the tower. The people add life and a sense of scale for the shot. The lighting and colors are great as is the photo's sharpness.

una bellissima architettura, ben conservata e molto elegante.
Belle anche le arcate a destra, di stile diverso, ma ugualmente di ottimo stile.
Bello il cielo blu che contrasta con il colore scuro della torre.

The structure is iconic and beautiful and looks better against the clear blue sky. The light is good and makes the picture bright. Wonder why you didn't straighten the picture, which is otherwise delightful!
