This is the nineth of a new series with 10 captures from Prague I made in the year 1988.
While searching for some slides in my archive I've found them and noticed that I didn't post any captures from Prague yet.
This and coming 1 entriy are been scanned from 35 mm Ektachrome slides, therefore the quality may not be as perfect as it should be. But still some nice pictures made almost 25 years ago from this beautiful city at Vitava.
Here a street view . The famous "zlata ulicka" or the "Golden lane) with quite old but pictoresque Prague houses.

Bonjour, cher ami Mesut,
Difficile de résister au charme du temps passé et de cette ruelle pavée, bordée de vieilles et vénérables maisons.
Point d'éléments perturbateurs venant gâcher cette très belle composition.
Un vrai et pur régal.
Très bonne journée.

I've been in Prague many years ago and your image brings my memories back quite easily. This small street located at the Old Town is one of the most beautiful places in the city. You did a great job here. Excellent sharpness and saturation gave a wonderful result. Bravo!!
Have a lovely day!

Hi Mesut, I posted lately the view from Golden lane, so you can compare. I prefer this old view with the cobble stones narrow street and no turists. The place looks deserted. It is quite difficult to make good photos from there and you succeeded well.
Now all these tiny houses are renovated, with fresh paint, and all are open for tourists, with arranged interiors and souvenir shops.

heute muß man die Straße sperren lassen, um sie so fotografieren zu können, es ist dort immer voller Menschen, die sich durch die Gasse und die Souvenir-Shops schieben. Schönes nostalgisches Foto!

Malgorzata (emka) also posted recently a picture of this street.
You captured the differently coloured houses very well together with the shining cobblestones.
The photo breathes a nostalgic feeling. Unbelievable that the street is located in the center of Prague.
When I was there, the Golden Lane was crowded with tourists. It's was impossible for me to take a picture like this one.
Best regards, Paul

It looks like tome stood still here, you claim that this is from 1988 but it could very well have been maybe 300 years older (if there were cameras then...) A very pleasant and beautiful street scene! And I am quite sure that the little blue house in the middle is the very same house that "emka" took a picture of and uploaded some days ago! Quite a coincidence!

Lovely quality tranny, and a very good scan (so it appears at this resolution, anyway!) This is indeed a beautiful and picturesque little lane, which I remember from a visit there in 2005-ish. But I couldn't have photographed it like this with no people about. Since your photograph, it's now right on the tourist trail, though we discovered here, and in so many other places, that if you go a couple of blocks back from the main honeypots, it's still possible to find solitude and a sense of authenticity away from the visitor crowds. Lovely work.

These are very interesting buildings in a street looking totally unchanged for a very long time. The partially warm light has helped to give the colours a very nice, strong flavour. I do hope this street has been kept in a good shape and saved from too much interference from people looking for quick profits from tourist business.
PS I notice now from Malgorzata's recent picture that this has indeed been transformed quite heavily by tourism.

Wonderful good perspective that you get this lovely street of Prague Castle to impossible as you could get to do the picture, without any tourist, when I could barely see walking down this street so narrow. Superb color and atmosphere.
Very good brightness and optimum sharpness.
Well done. I love it.
Enjoy good Sunday afternoon.

I would be very interested in knowing if you had to pay money to walk down this street in 1988!
I was there last year, and it cost about $20 just to walk down the tiny street, and it was PACKED with hundreds of people making it almost impossible to get any half decent photo.
so i'm very happy to see it here in this older slide, we can clearly see the charm and rustic elegance.
i like it

Prague must be a very interestin place, especially because of its architecture, which is peculiar. You showed the details of the street very well. Nice work!
jacquest (17767) 2013-02-24 17:23
I am amazed by the quality of the scan. There seems to be nice old doors on the houses in this narrow street. Light and details are very good.

gefällt mir gut, ein Bild von einer Touristenattraktion ganz ohne Menschen! Schöner Blickwinkel. Auch das Licht ist schön. Das Bild strahlt so viel Ruhe aus.
