Photographer’s Note
While I was in Telč a couple of weeks ago, an unseasonally cold spell came and with it our first snow. It continued to snow for the next 3 days, which is pretty unusual for first snow, and all of the country's hilly regions got a fairly good dump.
Normally, the first snow is not expected until November, more precisely St. Martin's day (11 Nov.). The proverb says that "St. Martin arrives on a white horse".
The picture shows the north-western end of Telč square, with the Town Hall (the large house with the little bell tower), the Jesuit church dedicated to the Holy Name of Jesus, and on the right a part of the castle.

Hi Dasha
Yep we had snow here too at about the same time, nice winter image where the lights bring warmth to this cold scene, normally I'd not frame so much empty foreground but I admit it was very temptating to keep this nice wet pavement
Have a nice day JY

Hello again Dagmar
So you have already got snow, we haven`t, yet. Wonderful composition in this well exposed image. I like the rays of reflection at the brick road. Great job under difficult light conditions. Nice facades and towers. Well done! Thanks for sharing. Have a nice weekend.
Best regards, Erling

Hello Dagmar, a nice image here, must be pretty cold if it's already snowing. U managed well the (lack of) light, nice colors, and a good depth.

Hello there,
interesting photo. The blue hour is always a good time to shoot well lit architectural places.
However, I think you could have done much better here. I understand that the wet pavement is beautiful with the reflection, but it's way too much empty space in the foreground...And you had a great occasion to crop this on a horizontal format since your crop is almost square here. Plus, I'm sure there is a more interesting angle to show the scene. This angle between the church and the castle seems like a goo place to shoot...
If you had shot this at f/22, those light would not have this dull round shape, but rather a star shape like here:http://www.trekearth.com/viewphotos.php?l=3&p=1114522 It adds character to photos.
see you
Marc

You are from the lucky in this world seen through the snow in the city!
In my town, unfortunately the snow is falling once in 5 years and this is for a few days.
Very nice picture.
Great reflection of light on the paved road.

Hi Dasha, how are you? Waking up to snow I see. Not something I see much (or any) of, so very welcome. And it's been taken at my favourite time of day, Blue Hour with beautiful gold tones to complement it with. I like the effect of the 1 second on the pavement in the FG and you;ve obtained excellent depth especially considering the weather conditions. Great job, TFS and have a wonderful weekend, Lisa

Hi Dasha,
I think you have captured all that mood through a good composition. I like a lot the contrast between the cold sky and snow and the golden light spots. That's what makes the image reading pleasant. Very good exposure and fine details. The crop and format were well chosen too. Very good job!

You vote for artistic effect, dear Dasha. Your Canon and you can be proud of your result. Your idea is justified with the first snow. If not, Tels must be very nice in sunny day. Many thanks friend,
Branko

Ciao dear Dagmar,
unfortunately the winter has arrived also in Italy, even if in the lowland it doesn't snow but it rains. In Italy the day of St. Martin has called "the summer of St. Martin" because normally the temperature is mild and there is the sun. Is only a tradition, because often the weather is not good. Excellent image of the blue hour to Telc, with a pleasant management of the light. Compliments!
Ciao, have a nice day!

Hi Dagmar,
These nice façades were already a perfect blue hour subject, but with the reflection from the wet pavement, it looks even better.
The foreground lack some sharpness, which of course is due to large aperture. Since you had a tripod, you could have opened at f/16 and make the focus about a third into the scene to get a sharper definition throughout the scene - hyperfocal method.
Cheers!

Hi Dagmar,
A fantastic capture at the blue hour, which catches perfectly the cold environment of the first snowfall on the city.
I like the effect that there produce the reflections of the light of the lampposts on the wet cobbles.
A deep perspective and a good management of the exposure.
Nice work.
Best regards,
Josep
