Bukovanský Mill Photo

Photographer’s Note

The grounds of Bukovanský mill are situated on top of a hill between the villages of Bukovany and Ostrovánky, near Kyjov. The windmill, built in 2004, was complemented in 2007 by a stylish three-star hotel complex. Built in the traditional “Moravian-Slovak” style, the hotel grounds create an overall composition typical of a traditional miller’s farm.

This is a nicely composed shot of this windmill. The building provides nice balance for the shot. The road creates a nice diagonal through the shot giving the scene a sense of direction. The lighting and colors are great with excellent sharpness and detail.

The diagonal line of the path is an asset to the composition. The point of view is allowing us to see the details and colors of the architecture of the mill and of the hotel. A good management of the light which has a good effect on the colors. have a nice day.

This photo really matches those more famous one of Dutch windmills... not only there's a fine traditional architecture, but the really gorgious sky plus the well balanced composition creates a very attractive image. I'm really glad that there are still architects in Europe who have the good taste to build hotels in a traditional styles and not those concrete monsters one sees generally. And I was surprised to read that the windmill was build in 2004. Has it a mere aestetic function or is it utilized for something useful?

I was so surpised when I read your notes that this was a new construction! Forgive my preconception but I always imagined windmills to be old and most of them situated in Holland! See how wrong we can be!

bei Windmühlen denkt man ja eher an Holland, aber wie man sieht gibt es die auch anderswo. Schöne Aufnahme mit natürlichen Farben und gutem Licht. Die Wolken im blauen Himmel machen sich sehr gut als Hintergrund für dein gelungenes Bild. Gefällt mir sehr gut.
