Photographer’s Note

I continue posting the photos of Zamosti -- the old Jewish quarter of Trebic listed in UNESCO World Heritage List. Today's picture shows one of a picturesque corner near the Front Synagogue, also called the Old School (the second building from the left). It was built in 1639-1642 in Baroque style and its current neo-gothic shape dates from reconstruction in 1856-1857.

The tower in backround is not a part of Zamosti. It is the city tower standing in the other side of the Jihlava River. I'm going to introduce it closer in some of my next photos from Trebic.

This is reposted photo with changes based on critique by Didi Massoud and his workshop (Thank you, Didi!). In particular I've made the following changes using the Gimp:

1) I've cropped the original so the resulting photo is a bit wider than the previous one.

2) I've selected the sky with the magic wand and then inverted the selection, so everything except the sky was selected.

3) I've increased the brightness, contrast and saturation of the selection.

4) Using the stamp tool I've ereased the red/white ribbon in the lower right corner.

5) I've inverted selection back to the sky and changed its colour to be more blue.

6) Finally resized and sharpened by the unsharpen mask tool.
