Photographer’s Note
About an hour's drive from the city of Ostrava is the well preserved, historically interesting, incredibly picturesque Moravian town of Stramberk. The town is dominated by the old Strallenberg castle with its cylindrical Truba tower, which I confess I could not possibly consider climbing after a couple of large glasses of pivo. This shot was taken from the foot of the tower and shows the central part of the town and the church in the foreground, the Beskydy mountains behind.
The town dates from the 14th century and has a colourful history. It's also famous for its gingerbread pastries known as 'Stramberk ears' because of their shape. They commemmorate a victory over the Mongolians by Stramberk's Christians in the distant past. It was hard to leave the town behind on this wonderful summery day.

Hi Andrew,
A vertainly pleasant scene and certainly well composed. The way the houses were lined towards the horizon leads the viewers focus further. The compo has good balance and depth. Excellent work! tfs

A wonderful panorama of hills, houses and sky, Andrew! You can see how the village is built following the valley and this makes a very good natural in-road to the rest of the shot! Lovely composition and colours!
Kind regards,
Bev :-)

The sky is terrific Andy and by underexposing the foreground slightly you have brought out the beauty of it very well .. nice high vantage point allows for a very good composition, nice work

Hi Andrew,
And many thanks for posting this picture. I ignored that there was another Cesky Krumlov nearby and did not put in on my itinerary.
Now I keep admiring this place with your picture - Izzet
