Photographer’s Note

Ostrava is the third biggest city in Czech Republic in population (310k) and maybe second in size. While there aren't too much photos from there, I decided to add some of mine. Ostrava lies on the borders of Morava (Moravia) and Czech part of Slezsko (Silesia). It's on the train line Praha (Prague) - Warszawa (Warsaw). While it has not so good reputation (industrial past, high unemployment and crime etc.), the central part looks quite well and there are other interesting places in Ostrava. This is the "entrance" to the center, 28. října street. At the area on the right there will grow a new part of city. First plan was a work of Czech-Polish team of architects (and won the competition), but then a developing company paid something to someone on right place (it cannot be proved) and the first proposal was abolished. This "someone" has won the second term. I don't know which project was better but this is very good example of how things works in the Czech Republic.
