Photographer’s Note

This picture of the Znojmo centre is taken from the townhall tower and shows the old streets dominated by the Church of St. Nicolas. The construction of the main town church began in 1338 on the site of a previous Romance church from the 12th century. The smelting plant of Václav Parléř and Lorenzo Spening participated in the construction of the three-aisled hall , which was finished as late as the early 16th century. The author of the pulpit, built in 1760 in the shape of a globe, is J. Winterhalder the Elder.
