Photographer’s Note
Sometimes, we lose track of how much beauty there is in even the simplest of things.
This picture of a rose was taken in my father-in-law's garden, using a Dimage Z20 with no flash or tripod. It's an outdoor photo, but using macro mode has reduced the background to near-invisibility: increase the gamma correction value to see the foliage! (Unfortunately, I didn't notice the slight cutoff at the bottom of the picture at the time - this is in the original, and is not a cropping issue).
I hope that this picture reminds us that however far we travel, and however many man-made miracles we see, nature (or the Divine) has given us just as much that deserves our awe.
