Quite an original shot though I would prefer a full B&W version. Composition is excellent with fine balance between fore- and background. It seems to need a bit of a tilt correction job to the left. Did you consider using fill-flash here? Regards,

This is great, I like the historical atmosphere and the fine details, composition is very attractive, the golden sword in the foreground is very effective. Prague is a fascinating city, I adore it. Have a nice Sunday

Ha explporing the world of post processing, a very good idea and a well thought out pov and composition. It works quite nicely in black and white although no fault of yours but those black blobs in the water are distracting. I will have to have a word with the city council
gunbud (34066) 2007-07-29 18:53
Wonderful contrast of the gold against the old historical looking b&w. Wonderful POV that includes the dam and the bridge leading to the famous old city.

Excellent picture a very good idea to make the sword golden. Also very nice composition with the national theatre in the background. A really good job!

Nice work on colors. Your BW work is great, with good contrasts, and of course this yellow sword catch the eye.
axiotea (21649) 2007-07-30 21:27
A well balanced compo with the silhouetted statue in FG as a starting point, leading the viewer to the nicely illuminated BG. Nice contrast and good choice of vertical framing.
The golden sword is an eye catcher...

luiscar (3286) 2007-08-01 14:40
Me this image in B*N with desaturacion partial included, very good work with the POV leaving the placed well statue and later depth in which you teach us the national theater.
vinicio (23415) 2007-08-02 1:37
A nice joke Wilson, the desaturation works well and the image is interesting and beautiful, a bit dark but good, compliments.

Very good use of mix medium ... very interesting. I like the vertical format to compliment the upright statue ... well positioned too just off center. Good contrast and depth too. Well composed .... excellent work! tfs

Pretty point of view on Prague starting from this foreground protective or threatening. The gilding of the sword compensates for the lack of details of the armour. Congratulations.
In a friendly way
Cretense (68681) 2007-08-02 5:01
This photo would be excellent even without the "effect" of partial desaturation, but this golden sword really is the "cherry on the pie". Great composition and framing, great depth of field. Congratulations!

la petite touche de couleur et de brillance qui rend la photo artistique et originale.
C'est bien pensé.
Une vue qui a beaucoup de profondeur et qui propose une vue large sur un des plus longs fleuves du monde.

Hi Wilson. Nice photo. I love the treatment you have given this shot. Good composition and sharpness also. Good work and thanks for sharing.
giuseppe24 (251) 2007-08-03 9:34
wow...you have captured the mood of this city so well...it is uncanny. You have stripped away the hectic hustle and bustle and shown, what I believe, to be the true essence and mood of Praha.
The gold sword being the sole color in the image works very well...thanks in no small part to the thoughtful composition.

Hello Wilson, To combine at the same time the large national theatre and this immense river on only one and even image, that is well seen, on the other hand this statue in spite of the brightness of are sword, is a little dark it is detrimental because this portrait the best development, I will have deserved wonder whether a light blow of flash would not have been welcome to light with-less are face, sincerely.........................

Hi Wilson, lovely composition with partial desaturation, great view of Praga, very well done, ciao Silvio

Une petite originalité içi et bien réaliser, une verticale en N/B qui me plaît beaucoup, beau travail

gary91 (15347) 2007-08-04 1:12
An excellent composition and a very good depth are the main components of this nice image.
I am not really sure about the combination b&w and golden sword ? and I am a little bit frustrated not to see any details on the statue. Did you consider using a fill-in flash ?
Have a nice week-end.
Best regards, Christian
PS - As I was frustrated, I tried a small ws to try and discover the statue :o) and it works... so you should be able to do much better with the original !
feather (51128) 2007-08-04 3:58
Partial de-saturation is not everyone's taste, but I like it. I like the way you have used the statue in the foreground to the view across the river. A bit more detail in the statue would be nice and the WS has shown that is possible, although it has made the bg too bright. We can see the possibilities. Good work
btw did you realise you put Zeppe's critique on my photo?
danos (80957) 2007-08-04 15:17
a nice B/W shot with the gold sword to make the difference.Excellent composition with the National Theatre as background.Well done my friend.
MLINES (12516) 2007-08-05 0:14
Hi Wilson. Very clever to make the sword stand out in a different colour. Your PP is progressive. Good scenery too. TFS. Murray.
saylan-cb (12738) 2007-08-05 1:56
A very good idea and composition...
jhm (131840) 2007-08-05 5:33
I look to the WS from Christian, I find this very well through the clarity of the statue.
But picture gives more contrast together with your PP with the gold colour of the saber.
Thankd for sharing.
Have a nice sunday,
veve (4189) 2007-08-05 12:35
Very fine B&W picture! It's a little bit funny!
I like the composition ,the details and of course this golden sword.
Great depth of field!
salvator (19102) 2007-08-06 1:19
Very nice composition and superb pov, so the sword does not overlap. The choice of the b&w and the contast and sharpness is very good. Best regards. Salvator.
pboehringer (770) 2007-08-06 13:12
LOL, the selected desaturation with that golden sword is brilliant, Wilson. A perfect twist for this composition. The only minor detail is the tilt, or at least the feeling of a tilt, to the right. Correcting that would probably enhance the experience.
ocskaymarci (2646) 2007-08-08 9:34
Interesting photo with the black knight and the golden sword. I don't mind the knight-silhouette, I just think the whole picture is a bit dark. And it's leaning a bit to the right. Anyway I like the composition and the depth.

Belle photo NB, mais comment cette épée elle n' est pas en NB,vous etes sorcier ou vous avez un truc.Belle prise generale et bonne profondeur. Amitiés Thomas
pilpel-adom (3018) 2007-08-20 15:09
I have a great weakness to silhouettes and this one sure do the job!
Very nice take of the statue and a good use of selective de-saturation to get this nice effect of contrast and shape without loosing the golden color...I would have played with Levels a bit to get more contrast (but that's just me!)
