Photographer’s Note
One morning, when Gregor Samsa woke from troubled dreams, he found himself transformed in his bed into a horrible vermin.
He lay on his armour-like back, and if he lifted his head a little he could see his brown belly, slightly domed and divided by arches into stiff sections. The bedding was hardly able to cover it and seemed ready to slide off any moment. His many legs, pitifully thin compared with the size of the rest of him, waved about helplessly as he looked.
"What's happened to me?" he thought. It wasn't a dream.
His room, a proper human room although a little too small, lay peacefully between its four familiar walls. A collection of textile samples lay spread out on the table - Samsa was a travelling salesman - and above it there hung a picture that he had recently cut out of an illustrated magazine and housed in a nice, gilded frame. It showed a lady fitted out with a fur hat and fur boa who sat upright,
raising a heavy fur muff that covered the whole of her lower arm towards the viewer....
Metamorphosis
by Franz Kafka
I took that image from the Charles Bridge (Karlův most), looking at the Hrad, the hill with the Castle and the Cathedral on the top.
On the Workshop there's the original image, that i changed to obtein that XIX° Century view...that it's really easy with a Prague picture, cause that fantastic city conserved perfectly the whole historical city centre.

Hello Paolo,
Beau travail

Hi Paolo,
Well, in 1883 St. Vitus Cathedral in Prague Castle has only one high tower, not three like today, but you get the mysterious atmosphere of Kafka's Prague quite well, I think.
Have a nice day,
Marek

Did you add the grain? Really does look like something out of a century old album or an early 20th century European film. Great note, Kafka and Prague..perfect.

Hi Paolo,
I like this reversal process as most people would take an old photo to make it look new. You did it well as that ancient mood and look is well projected. Excellent idea and effort!! All the best.

Hi Paulo,
This is a beautiful image, i love these grainy old looking b/w shots..
Your composition is spot on here..its a dreamlike image...i doesnt look bleak to me at all, so i would never have a metamorphosis
in a city like this! lol.
ciao..(sorry, green later)

This is great. I was thinking of hitting NeatImage to reduce the noise and then I thought..what am I doing? the noise adds so much more to this photo. I love a b&w when it is well done, and this one sure is.
cheers
